Ado I hope he sticks with his discharge plan

Tweety I hope the hurricane's impact on your area proves minimal

Stars that does sound like nice weather

Dianah  that was nice of you to stop at your old place and drop stuff off

Was another rather crazy day at work.  Have another coworker off, had to evacuate due to the hurricane.  Did get everything done by the end, but had to rush the whole afternoon.  Hoping today will be easier

Had dinner with the church group, smaller group this time, only 7.  Made conversation a bit easier

J seems to be recovering from his reaction to the Omicron booster, although still some allergy related issues

Nothing in particular going on tonight

Will be about 60 again today

Good morning!

Joe, do you realize almost every post that starts with "work was crazy...." ends with "everything got done in the end".  You rock at your job.

We're already getting some wind and rain, but nothing much.  We're going to be fine but just south of here they are going to be slammed.  Feel bad for them.

I'm ready if we lose power.  Going to do my cooking first and then some cleaning.  I'll presume I'm working tomorrow.

I took a sleeping pill and fell asleep before I could even read a word and my light was on.  Two days of insomnia fatigued me.  Going to try to stay up today  so I can sleep again tonight before work.

Have a great day.

We are in the mid to low 70's, partly cloudy but mostly sunny for today and tomorrow, and thunderstorms and in the upper 60's Friday and Saturday.

I just got home from the eye-doctor appointment, and it was one BLURRY ride! I had those cheapo dark lenses they give you after you've had the dilation...well they helped some with the bright sunshine, but everything else was quite blurry; It was a really good thing that I was on roads I constantly travel because if I had to find my way -- well, I couldn't read the street signs. Anyway I arrived home safely!! Don't know how long it will take for the new glasses to come in.

When hubby was in the hospital last time, he said one of the nurses flung his glasses down (he was being a butt, I think. Wiseguy doesn't like being in the hospital!) on the over-bed tray which was covered with the usual stuff. Anyway, one lens got a vertical scratch, and the other lens, more of a small arc. I mentioned it to the glasses-technician, she asked, "what's his name?" I told her and she immediately broke into a smile and said, "Oh, I know him!" I said, "Yeah, everyone remembers him after they've met him once." He has a distinctive voice and accent and likes to joke around with people." (he really does make a good impression when he's not been drinking.) I don't think hubby had as much to drink yesterday, until just before he went to bed. He was (blissfully, for me!) not slurring or wobbling during the afternoon. The night before when he said, "I love you." I responded in kind, but added, "I wished you loved yourself enough to take better care of yourself." He said "I will." and I said "Okay." So for the time being today,at least, he seems sober. 12:30 PM and Nannie is still sawing wood. Hubby said no, don't wake her up. He has gone out to pick up a Subway sandwich for her lunch. (The Subway is two doors over from the liquor store, so we'll see....)

He came back w/ her sandwich and I told him she has had her meds and has her drink already. I don't know if he slugged some vodka in the car before he came in, but he came down with her drink on her tray and her meds from Thursday morning. Fortunately I caught it before she took them. // Last night just before bed he was sitting in my room and talking to me, but he was very spacey; he gazed at the window blinds all the while he was talking to me. He hesitated his sentences and words, but was not yet slurring. But when somebody says, "I'll tell you what..." and the pause after it is a bit longer than normal...I finally said "What will you tell me?" and he continued. It wasn't anything important, but odd that I had to prompt him to finish the thought.

Braves won again last night: w00t! Night before last they had a new (to the Braves) pitcher who was soooo EXCELLENT, he actually pitched all 9 innings and it was a shut-out 8-0. {Many pitchers now only pitch 5-6- or 7 innings.} Have another game tonight and then again on Friday.

Glad to hear you are still connected to the ground, Tweety, and not floating around in the air or water!

Hallooooo to all youse other guys. Will come by later to see how y'all are faring.

Hello. I don’t have nearly the worrisome occurrences in my life as some of you, but minor vexations keep popping up. Dh’s supervisor and the local hr person told him his official last day is Monday. They would like to keep him on part time but the local hr person doesn’t know how it will work benefits and pension wise, so told him to call the main office out of state. Which he did, but they have a completely different story: that he has to leave for 6 months and can then be rehired. So now we need to scramble to get him medical coverage by the first of November. So he’s been postponing retirement to help out the employer and now it’s “here’s your hat, what’s your hurry?” After 20 years.
I’m  back at work, blah. Stay safe and dry, all.

Found two opened/empty mini-bottles of vodka in the console of my car. I told hubby if either of us were to be stopped by the Sheriff or State Patrol, and there were two empty bottles found, there would be trouble. Of course, my breathalyzer test would be sterling because I don't drink. Guess who might get his license pulled if that were to happen to hubby when he's driving? (like we really need that!) Of course, hubby says like everyone always says, "I'm not drunk."  He said he only opened the bottles and drank after he got in the driveway. But jeez-beez-louize, I have seen him do quick guzzles right after getting back in the car from the ABC store.

HUH! Well, I hope to heaven I don't end up as a full-time designated driver! Not "looking for trouble" by bringing it up, but feel leery about the whole prospect. I mean, "Don't Drink and Drive" is a motto for a reason, AND as they say: "IT'S THE LAW!":...and if I have to end up doing all the driving in addition to my ever-increasing domestic duties, *I* may start drinking, myself! (not likely).

Well, blah, blah, and blah. This re-run of a re-run of a rant is getting OLD.

J22, that's seems so wrong that they would give your husband such short notice as to his retirement date.

Stars, don't feel like a broken record.  We're here to listen and for you to vent.

SW Florida got and is getting hammered so I won't complain.  Lots of flooding.  It's horrifying.  To think that's what was headed to us.  Our blessing is their curse.

We got a "reverse surge" being on the side of the hurricane we are and Tampa Bay got sucked up dry and the tide is way out.  We're wondering if it will come rushing back.   And the wind and the rain has been going on all day. I'm mean we're in 12 hours of gusting wind and rain.  Power is knocked out for 200,000 customers in this area, 140,000 in my county alone, and I really am dreading when my power goes out.  I feel like that's a given since it's still tropical storm windy out.  But given the misery down south I feel guilty for complaining and guilty for even still having power.

Best friend lost power a couple of hours ago but is doing well.

Work is still on lockdown saying roads are to hazardous for us to come in so I'll be off tomorrow again.  So at least it's not four days in row but just three.

Right now it's not the rain but the wind.  Weather people says it will be like this for a while overnight.

Thanks for listening.

Batten down the hatches! We are supposed to be expecting a lot of rain and wind (but nuthin' like Flo-reeda!) from Friday to Saturday mid-day.

The $64,000 question is...will hubby keep his GI appt? It is tomorrow, not Friday (glad I checked the calendar again!) Tune in tomorrow afternoon for an update and see if Hurricane Hubby occurred here.
