Joe~ Pretty warm in the upper forties? We are having low to mid-70's; I'd send you about 10-15 degrees if I could!
BiL just dropped by with some more Nannie-products. He has taken down almost all of the back deck. Still has little more to go. He's going to get an estimate from the HVAC folks for moving the unit back beside the house where it originally was, before the deck was built. Has to get some railings for the cement stairs and back stoop (can't hardly call it a deck anymore!) And as soon as that is done, I can start using that door to bring in the groceries; it's a shorter way into the house and kitchen, so that will be good. I don't think that door has been used in at least 35 years, but I will be happy to be able to do so. Have to put some kind of runner down to avoid tracking mud and leaves in and dirtying up the only bit of carpeting in the house that is clean all the time., but that's no biggie. Wun of these daze I will have ALLLLL the carpeting pulled up, especially from the stairs from 2nd to 3rd level and down into the den, as well. It is that terrible awful, disgusting, mashed down, dirty, ORANGE SHAG carpeting on the stairs. The carpeting in the unused formal dining-room and living room is beige. Also have beige carpeting on the upstairs floors, but they are not exactly clean. Watching HGTV all the time gets me to wanting to have one of those teams come in and gut the house with it's little dark rooms. I don't want, and can't have "open concept" due to the way the house is built. But at least one wall can come down to enlarge the kitchen into the dining room we never use. And the wall between the den and "Nannie's room" to open it up as well. where the washer and dryer are; they can be enclosed in a little closet space. Maybe find some spots for a window or two, even if it is just the little high windows ....which I can't recall the name for right now. (Clerestory? or something like that.) Dream on, Stars. Buy another few mega-bucks entries, 'cause ya can't win if you don't enter! My 'dream' is to win big and have the whole house re-done. Then if and when I decide to sell it, it will get a good price. But thinking about moving again is UGH!
Anyway, since Chatty CG is coming tomorrow afternoon, I will have my nails done tomorrow. Probably should pay a few bills today. Maybe go out to the HFS and see if they have my note-book-brain. I haven't begun searching clothing and jacket pockets in my closet for that extra key for the car. They are expensive to replace, but at least I still have one set of car keys!
I also desperately need a new pair of shoes and I HATE shopping for shoes! Don't care much for all the sports shoes that are so ubiquitous. Oh well, it is what it is.
Have to pick up Nannie from daycare around 4 or 4:30 PM, so that's fun to contemplate. (NOT!) Meanwhile, back at the ranch, if I'm going out, I'd better gather my stuff and GO!
Hello all!
Slept about two hours night before last, so figured I'd sleep really well last night. I did, but woke up at 11! Oh well! After lunch I made some lentil soup/stew. Then, -- because that chocolate ricotta torte never rose! -- I found another chocolate ricotta espresso cake recipe, and made that. As soon as I put it into the oven, dh asked if I wanted to go for a walk -- ' it's so nice out!' By the time we got ready to go out the door, we had 30 min to walk, before the cake needed to come out of the oven. So we hoofed it up to the end of the street and back -- 1/2 mi each way, probably 30 min of walking, as the first half is uphill! I got home in time to take the cake out of the oven (it rose nicely!), and I just finished cleaning the kitchen and putting away the lentil soup/stew. We will have that a couple nights from now, as we are still finishing the mushrooms paprikash.
It will cool down this weekend and we might even get some rain, with some snow in the mountains.
I have some laundry to do in the next day or so, but other than that, nothing significant is looming here.
Have a good evening!

Tweety maybe reporting to the BBB would be a good idea
Stars hope you can find some time to rest
NJ22 hope you feel better
Ado hope he does not have the flu, although a lot of respiratory diseases seem to be ciruculating
Work was good yesterday, and thankfully the meeting wasn't as long as I feared. Hopefully today proves the same
Had to rush a bit after work, as the dining out with the church group was moved up an hour due to an issue with the reservation. Got the grocery shopping done and managed to get there just in time. Unusually big crowd this time
Today after work will head out to an event with the over 50 group, this should be a considerably smaller crowd
Will stay pretty warm today, should be in the upper 40s
