for those who wear hearing aids

Published

Hey All,

I was always wearing a analog aid only in my rt ear. After 25 yrs my audiologist tells me u need to start wearing two aids. So i decided with these digitals and don't like them. I have tried two different brands and the only thing i hate about them is that when i get into a noisy environment or going out to dinner at resturants all the sudden there is a decline in sound in my aids. I cant hear the same when i'm in a quiet enviroment. they keep fluctuation in quiet and noisy environemtns. I am still visiting my audio making adjustments with these digs. IN the meantime I am researching Implantable hearing aids. Does anyone out there know any personal information about these? I am gonna talk to my audiologist about these implants. They are not like Cochlear Implants.

I have digital aids I just got in early February. They are taking a lot of getting used to. The little microphones always seem to be "looking" for sound. I've never had analog, so I really can't help you there.

It is taking me frequent trips to the audiologist to get the levels right at the different frequencies. My mid-tones are now well within normal. The higher frequencies just goot adjusted. We'll see.

It's just been difficult to adjust to all this noise!

Wow, I am interested in hearing more about the implantable aids, when you do find out. My late sis was deaf and had some analog ones, which she rarely wore. Oh, I can remember getting so mad at her for not wearing those aids, but of course, filtering other sounds out was the problem. She never tried digital, but bless her, she left me her others, so if I wanted to wear them I could!!! I am not deaf, but am familiar with some of the issues, because of what she went through. You know, since she died, two of her grandchildren were born deaf, but she never lived to know this. They both have double cochlear inplants, I believe. Until this, they never believed in a genetic link in her case, but now they do. I wish you the very best, and hope you post re the implantable aids. Sounds very interesting.

seems like no matter what king of hearing aids i use, i always have issues with background noise, noisy environments, etc. they took me awhile to get used to and, no matter what, i will never "hear" like i did before. i would love to learn something about the implantable aids you are describing. wonder what the cost is? good hearing devices certainly aren't cheap!!

Are you referring to the BAHA implantable aid?
