We learned about NANDA I

Published

Ok! We learned "Problem" R/T "cause" A/E/B "s/s". There's 13 categories. How do you remember everything in the categories? Our teacher said "you don't have to memorize them but you have to know them." But really those of you who have used nursing diagnoses for a while do you just remember all of them? Some confuse me like "diarrhea" seems like a medical dx but it's a nursing dx.

I loved learning this! And..just sharing.. I got my first 100 on our weekly quiz! I've only gotten 80% and one 90% last week (10 question quizzes). The teacher told me don't think into it like one question was about chest pain, and one answer was "decrease stress and anxiety" and at first I thought "well if you decrease stress you decrease the heart's workload.." but that was a psychosocial answer and the answer had to be physiological.

Anyway ..just needed to share a good thing. Studying when you need to over going out and having fun is worth it.

13 categories? 13 categories of what?

I mean 13 domains for nanda approved nursing diagnoses.

Odd. Our program does not require that we know the specifics of the domains.

The nursing Dx become much easier to remember after all the care plans. There are some that are frequently used, while others I still have not read about. It's impossible to remember all of them (for most). Hence, the NANDA book with all the Dxs available for you.

We have our lesson about care plans next week I'll have more understanding then I guess!
