WCCCD student needs some opinions/advice! Please :)

Published

Hello,

I have a question for my fellow wcccd students. I am hoping to apply for the fall 2011 program this feb. I was hoping someone could maybe give me some advice or their opinion on what my chances are on getting in the program. Here is my info.

English (The only class I didn't take @ WCCCD)- A

BIO155- A

A & P- A

A & P2- C

PSY-B

MICRO- A

PATHO- A

LIFESPAN- A

SOCIOLOGY- A

Overall GPA - 3.66

Also, I am scheduled to take the TEAS in November, so I am not sure on my scores for that yet.

So, I have 3 of of the 7 co-req's done and all but 1 pre-req taken at WCCCD, 3.66 GPA and no medical certification.

Should I try re-taking a & p 2 before I go through all the trouble of applying?? Any advice or opinions are GREATLY appreciated.

THANKS:)

I am currently in the nursing program at WCCCD.

My advice is to DEFINITELY retake A&PII. I know quite a few ppl who have been denied access to the program because they got less than an 'A' in any of the science classes. I am not saying you have to have a 4.0 overall, because I certainly didn't, but I made sure my A&PI, II, and Micro were A's. The only 'B' that I had for pre-reqs/co-reqs was psych. I originally had a 'C' in Eng 119 (horrible, horrible online teacher), but retook it before I applied, and got an 'A'. Not sure if that helped, but I did get in the program the first time I applied.

If you don't get in the first time, try finishing all of your co-reqs (esp HSC100), and other medical classes like Med Term, Phlebotomy, etc.

Good luck!

Thank you so much for the advice. I am definitely registering for BIO250 this monday. I am going to take -----, I have heard amazing things about him so hopefully it will go well. I am thinking I will take English 2, and HSC 100. Waiting to apply this spring also gives me more time to study for the TEAS also. Hopefull it will all work out.

I wanted to ask you what your schedule has been like in the program. I am curious to know what the schedules are like once accepted in the program. I know it varies and it is assigned by a lottery, correct?
