While at the information meeting, Mrs. N said that the letters would be going out in August and we should get them in late August. I dont see how this is possible because classes start at the end of August. She told us NOT to take the CPR class until after we got our Happy letters and she also said not to get our physicals until after either. Now if we aren't going to know until late August if we get in or not, when are we suppose to have time to get the physical, take the CPR class and do orientation and lottery?
For all you Fall entry WCCCD nursing students...when did you get your acceptance letters? I think Mrs. N just misspoke because there was an incident in the audience that ruffled quite a few feathers.
Thanks guys!!!! Sorry for all the questions!

I understood her to say that applicants would be notified by August 1st, not that the letters would go out in August...

I'm not sure when the letters will go out but once you get your acceptance letter, you have enough time to get your physical/CPR certification/hep B/immunizations. You have to have all this prior to going to your 1st clinical rotation which means you will have the 1st 7.5 wks of the term to get it all together. But remember, even though you've got that time, it's an intense time with learning all these new skills & techniques. It's tough trying to fit ANYTHING but studying into your schedule.
Check w/health depts for hep B/TB (it's cheaper), titers are expensive & make sure your CPR is thru the Am Heart Assoc. We had students who had certification through WCCCD's EMT class & the Nursing program wouldn't accept it! (does that make sense?) Other students had Am Red Cross certification through their place of employment--not good enough.
Good luck to everyone! Enjoy your summer. It's the last summer you will be relaxing for some time. ;_
