Hi! Everyone, i'm new to the blogging stuff and its my first time writing messages
but i'm also applying for the WCCCD nursing program this month for the fall 2014 semester and i'm super excited!!
i did very well on the Hesi exam, finished all my pre-req at wcccd, have health care experience and several certifications. i cant wait to apply, i wish everyone good luck on being accepted.....i'll keep everyone posted on my journey!!
I am not sure what the lowest scores are, but the majority of points (60) come from GPA. I have heard that they are redoing the acceptance procedure, but that could be just rumor. Just do the best on all your classes and study for the HESI and that is all you can do!! I did not have healthcare experience so I lost points for that and I was accepted. They never told us our points but I figured mine to be 92. Good luck!!
Yes I did all of my co-reqs and had 4 of 5 pre-reqs at WCCCD. And yes, the full 60 points is for 3.8 to 4.0 GPA. I was very nervous that I did not have the experience but that did not seem to hurt me.
If you read back on older posts it seems that they did not have enough "qualified" applicants each semester so they would keep extending the deadline. Just do not get discouraged!! So...just do your best and that is all you can do!!
The best advice that I was given was that if you think the pre-reqs are difficult and you cannot handle them, maybe you should rethink your goals because it is nothing compared to the program!
I plan on taking all my pre reqs with wcccc I have sociology that I hope transfers over from HFCC, I basically need all A's bc I didn't do so great in micro, I know it's a challenge & I'm not giving up I'd end up w/ around a 3.6 GPA just have to keep studying hard & pass that hesi w/ a good score as well. Thank you for the input I appreciate you answering back :)
One of the lady that works in the nursing office was explaining to someone that was getting ready to apply to the program, she said that basically people was not passing the classes! That the number of people entering was no where close to the number graduating. She said they want quality not quantity. Lowering the number will make the program more competitive to get in so the people that will be applying will have very a high gpa, making it less likely to have people not passing the program.' I personally think this is a tactic to get there accreditation back because people want to attend a school that is accredited.
Your not alone I get nervous too! And the only way I found out to get over that is to become an expert on the material, you have to be confident. I have to admit the first time I took the hesi is felt like I could have studied more!! And I didn't pass the first time. I finally got it, I went home and studied and studied until I knew!! Like really knew my material!! I was having dreams about solving math!! I mean it was crazy but I knew how to solve the math problems. The second time i was an expert ( probably could have taught a math class too!) I was so confident I knew I was gonna pass! And I did with flying color!! In the end when I think back it wasn't that hard, I mad it more hard thank it had to be!! So don't stress out and study and study so you can be an expert!! Good luck!
Thank you so much,I've studied the math I get everything except the conversions & I feel like I'm never going to understand them. I know I will I just need to find a way to keep my self calm when doing those but I get so frustrated lol , & just focus on that. Do you remember about how many of those were on the hesi? I know it's different for everyone.
I'm taking a&p 240 now I still have to take 250 & English & psychology next semester, so I cant take the exam till I'm finished w/ those, just can't wait to finish & not worry about this all anymore and just focus on the program. If I get in -.-
