accelerated second degree BSN programs in Wahington state?

  1. My husband and I are wanting to move, and washington state is on the list. He is wanting to start a accelerated BSN for college graduates. There are well over 200 such programs at US universities, but I can't seem to find one in Washington state. I just wanted to know if any of you out there knew of any programs in the area or soon starting programs? Also I am an lpn, what is the job outlook for licensed practical nurses? Any information would be greatly appreciated, Thanks!

For some stupid reason, there is NO second degree, accelerated program in Washington State. I think that Oregon has one, but I am not sure. Call the Washington BON, and ask why, or if they have any suggestions.

I know OHSU has an accelerated BSN program. It's extremely competitive. Only about 35 people are accepted out of hundreds of apps. Check out their website www.ohsu.edu/son Happy moving!

OHSU is the only 'accelerated BSN program' however it is still a duration of 15/16 months which doesn't really accelerate the time line but removes the summer.. so yeah overall it accelerates graduation... they start in the summer apps are due around mid jan or so. The app process there is pretty user friendly and requires minimal materials. If you want to travel - the fastest accelerated program is Drexel's ACE BSN which is 11 months and starts in both Fall and Spring.. you might check them out - but it is in PA and you pay for going fast I contacted them last SEP and managed to get a slot for the following Spring - but opted to state local to WA for a variety of reasons. Also both OHSU and Drexel are accelerated BSNs for those already holding a BA/BS in a non-nursing field...
If I were in that situation and your hubs has a BA/BS you might look at the accelerated entry level masters programs at PLU and SU and UW... they enable you to show up with no nursing exp and in about 3 years full time walk away with your RN license and a MN with some sort of focus.... some of them are actually subsidized quite a bit compared to normal tuition.. ex PLU.
