Hey Hananali
The RN Residency application for Feb was up last week. When I talked to the recruiter she said that it wouldn't be up for too long because of the overwhelming amount of applications they receive. I don't know if you missed the deadline but my recommendations is to call WHC and ask for Human Resource to talk to someone.
So I called the recruiter at WHC back and it took a few tries to talk to her on the phone. Basically she wants more information from me regarding my work experience. She feels that my work experience (more than 8 years combined in China, with ER, surgical and rehab) was too much for the RN residency program, so she said she will forward my resume to the surgical unit nursing managers for further consideration. I guess this is it for me to get into this residency program. Good luck to all!
Hello everyone,
Just want to update that, well, it was pretty complicated but all end up well. So I went to the interview yesterday, the whole thing took an hour and half, for the ER RN position. Today at around 5PM, I got the call and I was offered the RN Residency job in ER. I thought ER wasn't an option but somehow I got in. It is so nice that WHC recognized all my RN working experience in foreign countries, and my starting salary was more than the new RN's, which I thought I had to be considered. I accepted the offer and is scheduled to go for physical at the end of next month.
Oh one piece of information, the RN residency program starts on 2/20/2012, not 2/27/2012 as previously announced. I want to thank this great website for all the information provided and shared, much appreciated!
I am so excited!!!
:yeah:
:yeah:
where do you live cause traffic and commute will be tough either way unless you live in either city. The pay is much better at WHC but having John Hopkin's on your resume will land you a job anywhere you go for the rest of your life. With that being said, if you can work at WHC (work conditions, shortage, type of patients/diagnosis, politics), you can work anywhere. Both hospitals you will learn so, so much. I guess it depends on your preference and what exactly you trying to achieve. There both great hospitals to learn and build your skills.
thank you fashionistaRN!
I live in Alexandria, VA. though I know its an easy commute for me to WHC, I keep thinking about the opportunity I am throwing away if I decide not to go to JHH..I heard about the significant difference in pay, but that doesn't seem to stop me from thinking about the JHH (at least for now).
I really wanna do ICU but the offers to me from either hospital is not ICU - cardiac short stay with WHC, and Medical Intermediate care with JHH. I think I like the JHH position better, BUT I am not sure if one, is it worth it to lose couple of $$ per hour: second, worth the commute; third, if JHH training is great enough that it is worth to justify my first two points.
ahhh...I think I am just talking out loud. any help/comment is appreciated. thanks

Hello everyone,
I applied to the Washington Hospital Center RN Residency February 2012 a few days ago and got an email requesting additional information. For those of you who are already in or had been through this program, here are my questions:
1). Is this a phone interview, or just a request for more information, leading to a possible interview later?
2). What kind of question/information will be discussed during the phone call?
Thank you very much for your information, any help is greatly appreciated. I am new so I am a bit nerves. Thanks!!!
PS, this is the email:
