Washington Hospital Center RN Residency October 2011

U.S.A. Washington DC

Published

Hello

I'm starting at WHC October 17th in the new grad RN residency program. I'm moving down to DC from Boston and currently looking for apartments in the area. I'm wondering if there are other out of state nurses moving to start in the program? Possibly someone else is making a move like me and is maybe looking for a roommate! Also I'm just interested in seeing how many people and what other areas people are starting in. If anyone is starting with me on Oct 17th let me know!!:)

savexpigoo, one just opened up for next month if im not mistaken...call HR

Can someone tell me when the next round of hiring will happen for WHC's nurse residency program? I'm a BSN who graduated in May 2011, looking for my first job this Fall.

I applied for a job at WHC last may, but wasn't hired for the unit where I applied. Turns out there wasn't an opening in that unit by the date I was interviewed - but at least I got interviewed. A lot of fellow graduates had their interview appointments cancelled at that time.

WHC residency is in February, July and October. Next one will be in February! The recruiter I talked to said to start applying in 2 weeks.

Thanks for the info!

Silly question. Can anyone tell me how to apply for the February RN residency program at WHC. All I can find is info about the actual program, but no application. Thanks!

Hopefully, you didn't miss the deadline but the Feb RN Residency application was up last week. I do not know if it's up currently. I did speak to a recruiter and she say they weren't going to leave it up for too long. I recommend to call up one of the recruiters for information.

Oh no, I must have missed the app deadline. All the posting sites say it's been removed. Anyone have the contact info for a recruiter? Thanks so much!

If you call the main line of the hospital (202 877 7000) ask for Human Resource. You should be able to talk to someone. Are you from the area?

Thanks so much! I'm actually from the WV/PA area, but my husband is applying for PhD programs in DC so I was hoping to get a jump and maybe get out of here a little early.

Childrens National Medical Center is accepting applications and they have a residency program in Februrary. George Washington is always hiring as well. Sibley Hospital in DC is hiring. They are under John Hopkins system. Holy Cross Hospital in MD is hiring. That's 15 mins outside of DC. INOVA in VA (15 mins outside of DC) is also hiring. This is a bit far but John Hopkins have rolling applications.

WHC is a great teaching hospital but the working conditions are horrible. Their turnover is high but if you can work there, you can work anywhere.

Hi!

After expanding my search for nursing jobs, I came across D.C. and after reading these posts I called the Nurse Recruiter and she said that the next cohort is in Feb. and that they haven't posted it yet on their website. Any one else have information on this?

Appreciate any and all feedback!

I registered for the February New Grad/RN Residency positions on WHC's website in early November. I don't think the posting is still there. Maybe there will be a separate residency program for experienced new hire nurses.
