I was offered an Utilization Review positon with the state Medicaid office. I was wondering if any one could give me any knowledge they would have on this positon.
Thanks

I have an acquaintance who has a similar job in our state and she loves it, and I have interviewed for a similar position (same state) in the past (didn't get offered the job). Her position involves reviewing Medicaid claims for medical necessity and legitimacy, to make sure people are not making fraudulent claims. The job (as it was described to me in my interview) is mostly desk work, reviewing paperwork, but some of it is getting in the car and visiting people to check on their actual condition and needs.
Also, apart from the specific position, state employment in general tends to pay pretty well and have generous benefits.
