Hello everyone! I am just looking for some answers about the way Iwas treated at during my out paitent surgery yesterday. I am a pre-nursing student, so I am there are many procedures that I am unaware of.
The pre-op and operation went very well, and all of the nurses and doctors were very nice and informative about what was happening. However the nurse that I had in recovery was not very nice or helpful. They intabated me during the surgery, and for some reason I could not speak above a whisper (I have had this type of surgery a couple months ago, and this was not the case then). The nurse that I had kept telling me in a rather irrated voice that I needed to speak louder if I needed something. After I was awake, and semi-comfortable, she helped me out of the bed into a chair that they move over to a small semi-private waiting room where my family could come sit with me while they decided when I would be discharged. While she was helping me out of bed, she put her hand with some pressure on my stomach, which was where my surgery was. When I started crying she said I was just fine, and increased the amount of pressure on my stomach.
I am feeling alright today, and not like anything is wrong in that area, other then it hurts and needs to heal, like with the last surgery. My question is, Is this a normal thing? I had a laperscopy on my ovaries, but the last one that I had I did not have this happen. They were done at two different surgery centers. I am just concerned that this pressure could have potentially harmed me.
Sorry about the lenght of this, I did not intend it to be so long!
