I was accepted into CSCC's program for the Fall of 2010. How are things there now?

I am in my 2nd semester and things are pretty good so far. I am at the Franklin campus and love my instructors. First semester was a good experience all around. I really do not have a comment about 1st semester Columbia campus instructors. I just do not know enough about there style to give a comment. Franklin campus 2nd semester instructors are wonderful. I do not have any complaints. The Med/Surg. & Pharm instructor is a hoot. She is very animated. As far as the Columbia campus instructor, I and many of my peers do not care for her style. I have heard that she is not very nice to the students and give no direction. He teaching style is awful. When she is teaching, it is better to read thru the book yourself and go from there.

Overall, I love it and would not have wanted to go anywhere else.

I'll be starting at the Franklin campus this fall, too. I've heard good things from current and former students. I'm looking forward to it!

It is a difficult program, not impossible. Lots of people drop. The new rule in Nursing I is if you drop there is no readmission. Make sure you pass.

Here is the class average of the spring 2010 class.

Do you mind me asking what your GPA was to get in for fall 2010? I am applying for spring 2011

CSCC doesn't judge strictly on your GPA. They weigh heavily on A&P grade. You are also given credit if you already have a BS. My GPA is not great, but I scored well in A&P and also have a BS (in Theater Design and Technology).

I'm not sure as I haven't started yet, but my friend who did the program 5-6 years ago said they did clinicals all over: nursing homes, Williamson Co. Med Center, Vandy Childrens, Southern Hills... sounds like a good exposure to different places in Nashville.

I will have a 3.2/3.3, 23 ACT, and made an A in ANP I, a C in ANPII. Don't have a previous degree.

Bkjohnson21, I too will be applying for the spring 2011 class. I talked to someone in the nursing department and they told me they have a points system they use to determine acceptance into the nursing program. It is an 8 point scale. They told me that with a ACT of 23=3 pts, B in API= 3 pts, and 1 pt for a bachelor degree for a total of 7 points. The gpa is not included in the point scale, you just need to have at least a 2.5 in order to apply. She also told me that the previous class of 85 students, 15 had 8 pts, the rest had either 6 or 7 pts. So, it looks very good for you being accepted with your grades.

I am interested in the nursing program @ Columbia State. Wondering do they have a waiting list or do they accept people on credentials?
