I was on an involuntary suspension for over a year and then terminated for something unrelated to my job. Trust me when I say it is extremely hard to find employment. My previous employer won't give prospective employers any information about me and that translates into no job offers. It doesn't matter how well I interview or how well a future employer may like me. No response or a bad reference, even though not deserved, is hard to recover from. I think the test is the same difficulty, just different questions. The problem is that there is an almost 90% first time pass rate and the pass rate is about 50% for those who repeat. that means that somewhere along the line people who retake are not changing how or what they are studying. Expecting a different result without changing the preparation is asking to fail again. Of course there are those who find it difficult to take a test, had a health issue, or something. I graduated in early December 2011. I did nothing until February 25, 2012 when I purchased the Hurst online review. I watched a few videos on Saturday Feb 25 and Sunday Feb 26, and followed along with the PDF files the provide online. I watched most of the rest of the videos on Monday Feb 27 and stayed up all night until I ran out of time at about 7am on Feb 28. I showered and went to take the test at 8am on Feb 28. The test lasted about 160 questions for me. I did the PVT and it would not let me register again, so I assumed I had passed. I paid the $8 this morning and verified that I did pass the NCLEX-RN. That may not work for you, but it worked for me. I should have spent more time reviewing. Hurst has 6 practice tests. They also have test strategies, pharmacology reviews, and maternity reviews which I had no time to watch or read. I can tell you that many of the NCLEX questions I had on my test were covered by the Hurst videos. Of course, there was much I did not remember exactly. However, if you know the principles then you can narrow the answers to the question down. I was a C student in school, that was mainly due to procrastination and poor study skills including not reading my assignments.

I paid for the Hurst online review and I thought it was worth it. I did the Hurst because of the nursing content, but they also go over testing stategies. I watched most of the videos and a lot of what they covered was on my NCLEX test. $300 is nothing when you understand that it costs $200 to retake the NCLEX. If you fail the NCLEX they have an intensive review or the option of a partial refund.

I'm not saying that prayer won't work, but unless coupled with an attempt to learn the material I think you will not pass. People who fail the NCLEX only have a 50% shot at passing the next time around. You need to buy one of those review courses and actually use it. The hurst review is nice for $300. It has 30 plus hours of video and materials online. It goes over everything. You can try to pass by reading a book or two, but you've already tried that and you know what happened. I'm pretty sure you are only graded on what you answer. For example, if you only answer 100 questions in 6 hours the others you failed to answer do not count against you. Put thought into all answers because if you just click C you are only getting 25% correct on average. If you look at it statistically only 50% of people who fail the test pass it the second time around. You need to do something different to ensure passage. Maybe a different prep course or different study habits, but something has to change.

I too had one calculation and many select all that apply questions. If I had to guess maybe 20% of the questions were sata. Only a couple of delegation questions, several on isolation and protective equipment, a bunch of priority and assignment questions. My test went to about 160 questions.

I graduated 3 months ago and took the NCLEX today. The only studying I did was this weekend when I bought the Hurst online and watched most of the videos, except the maternity ones, and renal (because I ran out of time). I printed out the pdf handouts and filled them out as I listened and watched the online videos. I didn't do any of the practice tests. I found the material they taught matched up well to the NCLEX test. I should have taken the test earlier and I should have studied harder, but I'm just a serial procrastinator. I think Kaplan has a 100% money back guarantee. Hurst has a service fee of around $70. From what I have been told Hurst has more nursing content while Kaplan focuses more on testing strategies.

I hope you do too! I was a never a good studier and always a big procrastinator. It is a lot of money, but that online Hurst Review was the only reason I passed according to the PVT. If you were to watch the videos and do all of the work I'll bet you would have no problems at all. The videos were the ticket for me. I can't sit down and read a review book and get much out of it. I took the test this morning 2/28/12 in Tennessee and finished at about 11am. I attempted to register using the "Register" tab and entered in my information. After I added the schol from where I graduated, the date of graduation, and the State Board I am taking the NCLEX-RN for, the following message popped up, "Our records indicate that you have recently scheduled this exam. Please contact your Member Board for further assistance. Another registration cannot be made at this time." I feel as if I answered the last few questions wrong (they seemed like easy knowledge questions I should have known) on the test which lasted about 160 questions and 3 hours including one break. Under the "View History" tab "Exam History" page my status is listed as "Delivery Successful". I'll report back with whether I passed or failed in a few weeks.

I bought the Hurst Review 3 days before I took the NCLEX. The videos are good and so are the notes. I did not view all of the videos on the main page and none of the 5th day stuff. I did not take any of the practice tests. There were a lot of questions on the NCLEX-RN which were very similar to what was discussed on the Hurst videos and notes. I know if I had not bought the Hurst online review I would not have answered as many questions correctly. I took the NCLEX today and still don't know if I passed. I stayed up all night last night reviewing the videos. For what it is worth, it was worth the $300 if I passed and if I didn't pass it is still worth the $300 because of the review which allowed me to answer many questions correctly that I would have missed had I not bought it.

Make sure you pass. There is no readmission to the nursing program if you fail out of nursing I.

It is a difficult program, not impossible. Lots of people drop. The new rule in Nursing I is if you drop there is no readmission. Make sure you pass. Here is the class average of the spring 2010 class.
