Want a job as GN

I graduated BS nursing May 08. I never worked as Nurse extern due to school and family. I am waiting for my NCLEX in June. I applied in couple of hospitals for GN positions. I have not received any calls from any where. I was wondering is there still demand for nursing! or they are not calling me as I do not have any experiance. Please share your experiances if any or please give any suggestions how to get a job soon. Thanks in advance.

Where are you located? What units are you applying to? West side of the state shouldn't be a problem getting a GN position in med/surg.

That surprises me. What hospitals are you applying to? I have seen many nurse jobs, including GN jobs posted almost daily by the big health systems in metro Detroit.
