Hello to all,

I am going crazy every day at my job as a Medical Receptionist at a New York City hospital. I really would love to quit my job and go to nursing school, but I have bad grades from my previous college. What should I do ? I was thinking of going to a community college and taking Pre-req courses and then apply to private nursing schools in New York City.

Can someone plus respond to my post ? I am desperate !

Specializes in Med/Surg.

Start taking your pre-reqs and get the best grades that you can. Find a school that only looks at your pre-req grades and you should be all set.

A lot of schools (mine for instance) only look at your gpa from the classes required for entrance into the nursing program (anatomy, psychology ect....) Or you could try to find an LPN program and bridge over

if you want to do nursing that is what you should do, there are plenty of options for you you just need to know where to look for your answers and who to talk to! first of all, maybe you could try calling the school you want to go to and ask them for some advice, explain your situation and see if they can suggest something for you to do. Orrrr look into the schools handbook/undergradute catalog- many schools allow you to bankrupt a semester from another college, meaning it is wiped out and you have the oppurutnity to take those classes over. Also, I think you may have the option to transfer those grades to a new school or not..I am not sure but I don't think you HAVE to send your transcripts to the new college, you may just be able to start over fresh as a freshman! Good luck to you! Don't give up!

Thanks so much for your encouragement:thankya:
