I want to find a nursing related job in USA but I haven't take NCLEX exam yet. I'm going to attend the exam this year.

What kind of job should I looking for?:)

It depends on where you are from. There is a primer on how to get approved to work in the USA at the top of this page.

You can not work for a position until your legal status to work is approved.

Thanks Alexk49. I have a green card already.

You need to take and pass the NCLEX for most states before they will give you a job offer. The best place to look here is the individual states and look at the posts, I am from MA and the posts seem to be right on target,

There is also a NCLEX forum which will help you study for the exam. If you are US educated the sooner you take the test the better your results will be. Good Luck,

If you have a Greencard.

Then sit for the NCLEX and get that out of the way. Suppose to be pretty easy to pass if you study.

Many places hiring nurses from what I have been reading. Dallas is fairly easy place to find a job....

Thanks redranger. I'm in Maryland and hope it's still to get a job after I pass the NCLEX. :p

So which hospital did your wife choose? How does she like working? Will she miss you when you go back to the Philippines or are they allowing her a Leave of Absence after a few months so she can travel with you?

You are lucky jobs are so easy to find. Even for new grads up north the process involves many interviews, reference checks, etc. I know I get all the reference calls and most HR do ask me an extensive list of questions. Usually by the time they call me they are close to offering a position and this process alone can take several days ( telephone tag). For my students it can take months to complete the process, sounds much easier in Dallas,

My wife not working. We are still in the Honeymoon phase of our marriage and it's now her time to take a break from all her school studying and NCLEX.

She has been looking at jobs in D/FW area, and soon she will hit the job hunt. If/when she gets a job she will just take a "Leave of Absence" when we travel back to PI. If they don't want to let her off then I have a card up my sleeve, the Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993 which she can use to take off

After working in the Corporate World for many years, I have zero loyalty to any companies. It's get the best deal you can make world for me........

Family leave Act you have to be a position 12 months to qualify

Covered employers must grant an eligible employee up to a total of 12 workweeks of unpaid leave during any 12-month period for one or more of the following reasons:

for the birth and care of the newborn child of the employee;

for placement with the employee of a son or daughter for adoption or foster care;

to care for an immediate family member (spouse, child, or parent) with a serious health condition; or

to take medical leave when the employee is unable to work because of a serious health condition.

So I hope you do not become ill or her parents. I certainly don't hope your wife ill ( life threatening illness).

Nice she is enjoying a prolonged honeymoon.

I can understand not being loyal to a Hospital, but when you a nurse takes "vacation time" and tries to pass it off as something else, the nurse is effecting co workers and patients. Not the same as working in an office. If you play games with your time, when she really needs time off nobody will cover.

Yes It does seem So much Easier in Dallas.

Month(s) to complete the process up North sound like the process is in serious need of repairs.

Just another reason I choose to hang my hat in Texas.........:lol2:
