Good day ppl, need some concrete advise here.
As long as I've wanted to be a nurse, I wanted my specialty to be in L&D. My maternity clinical rotation during nursing school was by far the best...of course. It was my reason WHY I became a nurse. To make a long story short...
*Graduated ADN Dec 2015
* Passed NCLEX-RN July 2016
Been working as a Hematology/Oncology nurse since passing NCLEX, so for a little over a year now. Ended up in this specialty because at this facility, I worked for 5 years as a Medical Asst. They supported me through nursing school, once passing NCLEX I was offered an RN position and accepted.
I have 3 more classes left before obtaining my BSN in Feb 2018.
Just recently had my cover letter and resume professionally done, tailoring to my desire of working in L&D/Mother Baby/NICU.
Decided to start applying to diff hospitals in my area for L&D and have been turned down by every one due to my lack of L&D experience. I won't give up on applying for open positions. Please advise me on how best to get into this specialty, entry level. Any advise on taking certification classes specifically for L&D (ex: fetal heart rate monitoring), do you think it'll better my chances? How do I go about doing so? When should I do it?
Greatly appreciate your feed back. Thank you

Can you relocate? I'm a hiring manager in a small community and would love to hire an experienced RN who has a passion for L&D. I'm not unique - there are lots of small communities that don't have a lot of options for nurses, and it's much easier to find an L&D position there without the experience. Supply and demand.
Thank you for the offer. Where are you located?
Just to be clear, that wasn't an official job offer :). Just saying that lots of hospitals, mine included, are totally willing to hire the right candidate and then train in L&D. In smaller communities, the nursing shortage is alive and well.
I'm on the southern Oregon coast. Most gorgeous scenery of anywhere. Paradise if you love outdoor stuff. And I am hiring. :)
