I know people have very strong feelings in both directions about Walden. I am considering the MSN education track. I had sent out for info and had planned to ignore them based on what I read here. But then I found out my job has a partnership with them that qualifies me for a discount. I work for highly respected hospital system with an international presence. If they are somehow affiliated with Walden, does that add some merit to the school?

Even when the workplace partnership 'discount' for Walden U is applied, a regional state university's online degree program will still be significantly more affordable in the long run.

I am enrolled in the MSN-nursing education program at Eastern New Mexico University. Even though I am an out-of-state student, I still pay the affordable $230/credit that in-state students pay just as long as I maintain part-time enrollment.

With the partnership 'discount,' you'll still be paying nearly $500 per credit hour for Walden U's MSN-nursing education program.

The Commuter,

If you don't mind me asking, how long will it take you to complete your degree at ENMU?

It will take two years since my status is part-time at 6 credits per semester. As an out-of-state student, I must enroll in no more than 6 credits per semester if I want the tuition and fees maintained at the lower in-state rate.

The program requires 36 credits for graduation and I'll finish on time as long as I complete 6 credits every fall, spring and summer.
