Hey! I got waitlisted too. I asked and they have 100 people on the waitlist and offered 30 spots to students. They said it was one of their most competitive application cycles they've had. He wouldn't tell me what placement I was though. But I know a few spots will open because a few I know were offered spots but are going to OHSU instead. UofP is my first choice so I'm really hoping to get in!!

Hi Brianna! When you said they offered 30 spots, you meant they only granted admission to 30 people? Or are they planning to offer only 30 spots for waitlisted students? My friend is currently in UP's nursing program and her cohort is one of the biggest- 95 students. I wish they told us our ranking so we have some sort of idea where we're at and what our chances may be. Fingers crossed for the both of us. Did you apply to OHSU?
The email said "We accepted 30 students for this application period. For waitlisted applicants, we will not really know how many people we can accept until around June. Since the deposit is due on June 1st, we won't know how many opens spots would be available until then."
So it appears, 30 applications were granted admission. I think the reason the cohorts are larger is because they have nursing majors already that attend the school and are granted entry through a separate applications.
The email also stated that 100 were offered waitlist spots and we would be contacted if we were moved off.
Ahh!! Thank you for the update Brianna! I've been so nervous these past couple of weeks I was curious to see if they would be able to tell us where we stand on the waitlist, and got this: "We don't number students on the waitlist. If we have spots available and are able to go to the waitlist, then we review all the applicants on the waitlist and make decisions to admit."
I got waitlisted also and wasn't able to get info on where I stand on the waitlist, when I called. But he did say to update my transcript with them if I have taken any class since my application was received because getting off the waitlist will be based on gpa, prerequisite done etc. UP is the only school I applied to, big mistake. If I don't get into UP, I will apply to Linfield, Walla Walla (again, that pre-admissions exam is hard), OHSU and out of state. Anyone know of any good out of state schools, please let me know.

Hi guys!
I received the news yesterday in the mail saying that I was waitlisted- kind of bummed but also hopeful. I haven't seen a post about University of Portland yet, so I figured I would post something. :)
I'm curious to see what your guys' results were and what nursing programs you guys applied to this year. Also, for people who were previously waitlisted for UP's program, did they tell you what number you were on the waitlist? I called the admissions office this morning and they told me they weren't allowed to tell applicants their rankings, and how there are about 100 people on the waitlist.
I look forward to hearing back from you guys!
