Linfield vs University of Portland

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi everyone,

I’m fairly new to the Portland metro area and was kinda wondering which school in considered better or more respected in nursing: University of Portland or Linfield University?

thanks for sharing!

Hard to say and answers will likely vary based on who you asked. I graduated from UP in 2014. There's a lot of alumni in the Portland area from both programs. I loved UP's program. Well rounded, organized, accessible and experienced faculty. Both UP and Linfield place you for your clinical rotations in good units in hospitals throughout the city. I'd say UP has a more "brick & mortar" university-type feel to it. Their campus is very pretty. UP also has a close connection with the Providence hospitals (there's 2) and they like to hire UP graduates. Feel free to DM me if you have any more questions about UP.

Thanks for your input. I’m currently enrolled in the Linfield BSN program for the Spring cohort. For my understanding, linfield just bought a new campus in Portland so I’m wondering what the experience is gonna be like.. have you heard anything good about Linfield?

I'll say that I haven't heard anything bad about Linfield. It's one of the more well known nursing programs in Portland.

I heard University of Portland is incredible! I have a friend that graduated from there and felt very confident in his hands-on skills from the program.
