Waiting for RN Lic Renewal

Published

Hi, has anyone experienced having to wait more than 8 weeks to get their license renewed? I mistakenly let my RN license expire. My paperwork reached IDPR on April 1st and I am still waiting. I have no criminal record or anything and I don't know why it is taking this long. Does anyone know why it takes them so long?

What is IDPR?

Thanks for the clarification.

Not familiar with Illinois regulations, but in Michigan.. if you let your license lapse there are MANY hoops to jump. Are you sure you have fulfilled all of the requirements? I would call the IDPR and the BON weekly.

Good luck.

I sent in all the paperwork and fees, and everything reached Springfield IL by April 1, 2023. It is Sept 4 and I am still waiting for my license to be renewed. I need to return to work, and I am so stressed out about this. I don't know what to do. I called several times asking about it and they keep telling me they are working on it.

As ongoing issue, contact your state representative who are usually effective in getting state government services issues resolved in timely manor.

I contacted my state representative and within a week my license was renewed! Thank you!

Great news .... nurses need remember to use one's state representative anytime having issues dealing with state government/board of nursing issues, along with federal officials --that's why we elect and pay for legislators salaries to work for US citizens.   ?
