Waiting for the phone to ring!!

Well, here I am - sitting at the computer, cordless phone sitting near, waiting for that phone call. My contract is up next month at a hospital where the pt/RN ratio is 12:1 on a typical day and I've had enough. I put my application in at a hospital that was totally APPALLED when I told them that, and assured me that there ratio is 5-7. I do know this to be true as I know a few people who work there. It is a bit of a pay cut (75 cents/hr), but I feel like this will be the change I've been needing. I talked to someone earlier this morning from a rehab unit, and am expecting a callback from Med/Surg today. Wish me luck - I want this sooo bad!! :nurse:

Did they tell you if they were or had included administration, secretarial, dietary, custodial, lab and x-ray...in the 12:1 ratio's? I'm thinking from time to time if nursing isn't paying attention they get included in the ratios! :troll:

Forgive me, but what do you mean?

To All I pray you get your new jobs. It is so terrible waiting isn't it? I am not looking for a new position yet. But I will soon. Good Luck Everyone!

:w00t: good luck to everyone waiting for those phone calls and good luck with your interviews!

Just got home from my interview - it went very well. I hit it off with the director right away. It turns out we are from around the same place and know the same people. Not that that gets my foot in the door any sooner, but we had a pleasant conversation and I felt very at ease. I have to say that this job will be considerably different from what I'm doing now. It rarely involves surgery pt's or dialysis pt's, and does involve some pediatrics (yikes!)-but it's good to get out of your comfort zone, right? She told me she had one other person to interview today and it would be between me and her - she also said that she wished she didn't have to interview her because she really liked me, but who knows?? I don't want to speculate before hand. I hope I know something soon. The agony of it all is that I have to work the next 3 days in a row (12 hour shifts) so I probably won't hear anything until Monday! AHHHH! Oh, well - I'm very excited. Thanks again to all for the support. :wink2:

Hey,

Congratulations Thumper! I've always been a super lucky guy getting jobs. Once I get into the door for an interview I end up always getting the job - knock on wood. Just a suggestion, but if you happen to have his E-mail address I would definitely without hesitation send him off a Thank You e-mail letter. Do anything you can do to get your name on the end of his tongue first thing in the morning - even if it's a very brief Thank You phone call make him think about you. Don't worry Baby Girl I sense that you have this thing all wrapped up@
