Waiting for NCLEX Results

Nurses New Nurse

Published

I want to throw up. I took my boards on the 7th (two days ago) and I have no idea how I did. It doesn't look good. I ran out of time at 260 questions, so the computer shut off. I can't seem to do anything else..look for a job, clean the house, leave the house or anything else until I find out.

Has anyone received their results via the pearsonvue website? How can I find out other than waiting to see my name on the State Board of Nursing website? I know there is a 900 number, but how soon would the results be there..2 or three days?

I know I'm babbling. I'm just at my wits end. I need words of encouragement.

Thanks. :o

Visit the Pearson-Vue site. There's a way for you to get your results unofficially, and it's cheaper than by phone.

I have the info.... lemme find it and I'll post it to this thread.

And don't worry. The deed is done. You passed or you didn't, but in either case, you won't be the first. You will live and if you have to, you'll take it again. It will be OK, I promise you. The world will definitely not come to an end.

Back in a few with the info....

Okay, here it is. When you find out your results, post it to this thread. I'll be here. You aren't alone!

Under Recent Appointments, find the row with your current test, go to "Status" and double click on the "Quick Results" link. If your results are available, a credit card payment page will display. Fill in the payment information, click on the Continue button, and a confirmation page will display. Click ONLY ONCE on the Confirm Order button, and your exam results will appear. (Please be aware: When you use the NCLEX Quick Results line, you will not be charged if your results are not yet available. However, once your results are available, if you call more than once, you will be charged for each call.)

Only the Board of Nursing to which you applied can release your official results. The NCLEX examination results in the Quick Results Service are unofficial, and do not authorize you to practice as a licensed nurse.

Please wait two business days after your test before you request your results!

Chris,

Just as you typed the info, the information was available at pearson vue. I didn't pass, but at least now I know. You're right, it's the not the end of the world. I'll be studying even harder now. I'm contemplating on whether I should find a job (just to keep my skills up), or just concentrate on passing. I need to check on how soon I can retake it. I'm hearing mixed info..40 days or 3 months.

Thanks for writing back.

FIZZ... I am so sorry to hear that you did not pass... Geesh what a tough break... But GOD is bigger than anything you are currently facing...Keep trusting in HIM with all thine heart...it may be a fact that you didn't pass, but GOD knows it's not the truth. You passed but not just yet...Call those things that be not as though they already are..."FAITH" you gotta have it... Bless you, need anything let me know.

I'm sorry about not passing, but you sound like you feel much better, and that's more important. The NCLEX you can retake. But today, feeling lousy, is lost. You're a winner!

I'm using the Mosby online review thing. It's pretty cheap ($43 including tax), it is immediately available and you can use it as mch as you want to for 30 days. I'm trying to do one 150-question review test each day. It's hard! Not so much the material, but the sheer discipline!!!

The questions are pretty good--very like the NCLEX I'm told, and it gives you a rationale for all the questions, even the ones you got right, that you can download and keep to review.

You will be fine. I think it's 90 days here in Texas, BTW, but it could be different in your state--or I could be wrong. It's been known to happen!!!

Hugs, dearie! You'll be terrific!

Correction, here in Texas it's 45 days. For some reason Chris I thought you already passed the NCLEX-RN.

Thanks for that correction. The info might come in really handy along about next Thursday. I don't feel at all confident or in control at this point.

Nope, haven't ever taken the NCLEX. Since joining this board in November (?), I've been posting about my progress in school, passing exams, prepping for and passing the CPNE, waiting to "meet graduation criteria," waiting to graduate (for some reason, there was a 30 day gap between those last two), waiting for the ATT (which finally came Tuesday), and now waiting to actually take the test.

But thanks, Cyn. I must have sounded competent someplace!!! :p

Thanks Cyn for the words of encouragement. Chris, I will look into Mosby as well as the lastest Kaplan book. I heard that was very good. I was previously doing 200 questions/day using Lipponcott and Saunders. The material was o.k. to grasp, but I never studied priority questions...who to see first. That was the majority of my exam. Does anyone out there have a good "priority" review book/CD they'd like to recommend?

I just told my husband. He's sad that I'm sad, but we both have confidence that I will do well next time. I have always done well academically, but that doesn't mean much in this case.

I just registered to retake it..yep, 91 days..approx Nov 22. That kind of sucks, but I suppose there's a reason.

I'm not going to let it stop me. I just called three hospitals and left messages inquiring about new grad opportunities.

Thanks again and good luck to you Chris! You sound very disciplined!

Fizz

just wanted to say i really liked the mosby online CAT. it helped me feel confident going into the exam that i would pass. didn't help me feel like crap thinking i hadn't while i waited though. i did pass.

the thing i liked about it was that you could see your improvement through the level of difficulty you were answering questions at. that helped me. it was well worth the money for me.

Specializes in med/surg, oncology.

Fizz,

Because you didn't pass dosen't mean that you are not a smart person. I graduated with a classmate that graduated with honors. I passed NCLEX with 75 questions on the first try, and she failed the first time and passed the second with 265. She's not stupid by any stretch of the imagination, she just freaked out on test day. Don't let this failure be the end of your world, you'll go back, retake it, and pass. That's it, you will never have to take it again. Use whatever study material helps you (mosby, lipincott, saunders) whatever. But cheer up! You will make it happen the next time! We are here drop in any time.

Chris, Good luck next week. I am sure everything will work out. Sending you positve thoughts!
