The ratios are the usual 2:1 for ICU. How many years experience do you have? Off the top of my head at about 10 years experience HCA hospitals pay about $42/hr, Dignity Health about $46 for fulltime. There's no state income tax here. Rent and real estate are cheap compared to Socal.

We loved living in Vegas! If you move there, I recommend living in the outer edges of the city (Mountains Edge, Aliante, etc). I'm not too familiar with Henderson- but I hear a lot of people like living there too!

The elementary schools leave a lot to be desired- the school district is one of the very worst in the country. But my kids were lucky and usually had good teachers. Supplementing what they're learning with stuff at home is a good idea.

Vegas now has 2 water parks open, a great children's museum, Springs Preserve (an outdoor exploration and learning place), and is close to mountains and a lake. We never had a problem finding fun things to do with our kids there! If you can handle the hot summers- you'll do great!
