I am about to start an ADN program in january. I would like to possibly complete my bsn afterwards at U of M flint a friend of mine suggested to volunteer to help with my application. (Trying to plan ahead) Anyone know of a good place to volunteer??? :heartbeat:coollook:

contact volunteer services at UM hospital (or any hospital). I volunteer 3 hours a week in the Post Op care unit, get lots of direct patient care experience

I volunteered at the Hope Medical Clinic in Ypsilanti. It's a non-profit clinic for people without insurance. Great for hands on! They always need volunteers. They have stuff for one-timers or people like me who volunteer a couple times a week for a couple years. Great experience!

UM-Flint? Does that mean you are located closer to Flint or Ann Arbor? If you're in Flint, I think UM-Flint works a lot with Hurley. I personally would contact the nursing program at UM-Flint and ask if they have a suggestion if they know what hospitals accept college student volunteers. Or you could start at the Hurley website here http://www.hurleyfoundation.org/?id=700&sid=4

I am actually in the metro detroit area. guess that would have been helpful I think I'm probably going to shoot for one time a week for a few hours. Thinking about DMC hopefully maybe childrens

Children's definitley takes volunteers, but not all of them. There is a form online to fill out, and you will need a couple reference letters, an interview, etc.
