VISA Screen now or when sponsored?

To all you UK to USA nurses can you tell me if it is better to go ahead & start your VISA screen before you get an employer or once you have been sponsored?

If I went ahead & sent off for my VISA screen now I would have to foot the initial bill & would be able to claim it back later (if I stick with Adevia that is). So question is will it make enough difference time wise to do this or not?

At present my CV is being prepared by Adevia for distribution to hospitals in the USA (to give you some idea where I am in my application.)

Thanks xxx

I would suggest getting it now and get it out of the way, helps so there is no delays as you need it in hand for your interview in London. Valid I think for a couple oof years I am sure mine is valid until 2009. You will also need to arrange with your BON to let them know you have passed your NCLEX

Doesn't the BON already know because they will issue my license? Or do you mean the Florida BON as opposed to Vermont who I went through.

Now I'm even more confused then ever - it's SUCH a minefield:icon_roll Why can't they make it easy to follow!!

Visa screen isn't done by the BON but by ICHP part of the CGFNS and you need to organise with your BON for them to confirm that you have passed NCLEX and they may charge for it. here it the link http://www.cgfns.org/sections/prog/visa.shtml

Thanks for your in-put. I'm sorting it our right now!

Once I passed Nclex Adevia sorted out my visa screen I just filled in the appropriate forms. Had already been involved with CGFNS for CES.

I've only done transcripts for Vermont so far so will need CGFNS to do CES as part of the screen. I've asked Adevia about submitting myself because I want to save time/ have things go as smoothly as possible. Will post their response just for others like me who are interested/going through the process.

Thanks again for the help I'm getting from you all, it's soooooo very much appreciated.
