Virtual Clinical Excursions

Do any of you have to do Virtual Clinical Excursions? If so, what do you think of them? We have to do them for class and we are all having problems with them. Right now we are doing the pediatric ones and several of the lessons are really messed up. I have heard that a lot of the schools that tried them have thrown them out because of this. I would love to hear some other opinions!!

We have to do them, too. None of us like them, either. HUGE waste of time!:nurse:

An absolute waste of time AND money. We had to get the OB/Peds program and it's very frustrating waiting for the correct time to watch a video, and then the questions asked about the video have no relevance to the topic. I just started answering those problem questions with "nothing was said about this topic".

I agree they are a total waste of time.

FYI, though, you don't have to wait for the correct time.... you can advance the clock manually (click on it).

There is not a word in the English language to describe how much I HATE these VCEs. I'm in the middle of reading something, looking for information to complete my form, I find it and I'm trying to write it down and BAM it kicks me out! "I was reading that!" How rude!!

My teacher is now forcing our class to do them so I just scan through as fast as I can to look for key words and just write anything down. I had to make it a game to beat the computer timer. NOT learning anything but I beat the timer!

I was under the wrong impression that these were going to help me learn nursing, not teach me to grasp for any information as quickly as possible.

Good god do I hate VCE's and they take forever to complete. Turned in my last one Thursday for my OB/Peds class, I sure hope I don't have to do them again.

My school is using them as a use for learning different scenarios.. I guess it could be a good learning experience, if you can't find these situations throughout your clinicals. The teachers like to give us the different lessons for extra points and try to not be so critical about our answers. They can be very time consuming though.. :/
