Hello. I am new to the area and currently reside in South NJ. Are there any nurses that currently work or have worked at Virtua hospital in Mt Holly? I am a new grad and was wondering if it will be a good hospital to learn from since it is on the smaller side. Any tips would greatly be appreciated.

No one? I took the assessment test and I was immediately rejected. I am gathering that I failed the assessment. I'll have to better next time.

What is a medication assessment or one of those personality assessment tests?
Normally a medication assessment is when you take a drug calculation test or look for s/s of overdose or side effects along with patient teaching. In my area, it has more to do with calculations of the drugs as well as unit conversions.
Personality assessment (which is the one I failed for Virtua) is when they ask you questions based on your personality and whether you agree or disagree. Or they will give you scenarios and you pick the best option for that particular scenario.
I did a search on those personality assessments and read that you are to either pick one extreme or the other as being in the middle counts against you. I have employed that and it's worked so far. However, I don't know if that is the correct way to take them or not. But google them and see what tips you can find.
Yes I, unfortunately, googled after the fact. I wish I would have done so before. I'm not sure how long they keep the results before they reset the assessment. I'm currently looking at other hospitals.

Are you a new grad? If so, I would just apply to every open hospital position in the south jersey area/whatever area you want to be.
It will be challenging to find a job as a new grad in nj so you may not have the luxury of being picky with what hospital system you are hired at.
Apply apply apply!
Yes. I'm a new grad and I have applied to a lot of the hospitals in the area. Most have sent an email back stating how fortunate they were to have found a qualified applicant and best of luck to me (paraphrasing). It seems they want that golden year of experience. Even at the LTCs and specialities hospitals in the area like one care and Deborah. I'm expanding my applications further north to see if that helps any, even if it means an hour commute to work.
Ugh. Depressing but yes realistic. I think i applied to 200 jobs before i even got an interview and that was almost 3 years ago. The search is gruesome and can take 6 months to a year from what ive heard these days. Applying online likely isnt enough to get into one of the hospital systems. You need to call HR, speak with a recruiter and sell yourself. Or find a contact to give your resume to hr or managers. Reach out to everyone you know-someone may know someone who knows someone connected to the hospital.
Thank you Bio. I will definitely start getting more creative. It is depressing tho. I'll keep at it.
