U.S.A. Virginia

I would like to start a thread to see if anybody applied for UVA RN Clinician 1 - 2014 Graduates position. Welcome for those who were offered a position from last cohort to please share interview experience and new working environment. Thank you very much

Specializes in progressive care.

I received a call today inviting me for 2 skype interviews which I scheduled for Friday and Monday. They are for med/surg and cardiac intermediate care.

Has anyone already interviewed? What was your experience?

Hi SimoneB. Congrats!! :woot: ...It looks like you live out of area. Good luck for your couple interviews. Today I received a missed call from HR who wanted to schedule for interview. I will return a call tomorrow.

Please keep this thread going with how this all works out for you both. I will be in your shoes in a couple years and am curious how it works.

I am local and will be getting my ADN in May '16, followed by BSN that August so I am hoping to have my job lined up before graduation as some students appear to be able to do.

Did either of you apply for the nurse residency program before these listings?

Congrats to you too! What units did you apply to?

Yes, I live in California where the job market is absolutely miserable so I'm looking all over the country and currently have a couple of other prospects but hear good things about UVA and Charlottesville. Is new grad pay still around $20 at UVA?

Thank you for your early interest. Things might change more not less in next couple years. However, we will keep posted. I applied to UVA RN Residency program as BSN with RN licensure. Hope this helps! Good luck for your career search. :woot:

I totally agree with you. I applied to USC, UCLA, and White Memorial Medical Center (WMMC) at CA, but NO call so far. It is truly understandable that the job market at CA is awful. I am not sure new grad pay at UVA, but I have heard around $21. Pay scale is generally based on economic area. But wait a minute, we have no choice because we need to get our footstep into the hospital setting, right? ...I chose ICU settings which are my unit's preference. I will find out more in detail after calling HR by tomorrow. I believe you are going to have interviews prior to mine, so please share your interview experience. I look forward to hearing from you SimoneB :sarcastic:

Hi there,

Hi Corinne8,

Congrats!!!! :woot: Welcome to our chat room. How did your interview go? What type of interview questions? When did you have interview? How long for the process starting from your interview date until job offer? etc. ...Please share your recent experience. We are about to have upcoming interview at UVA as well. I give up to land a job at CA because it seems to me that job market over there is terribly awful. Thanks for sharing Corinne 8.

hi all! i'll be graduating NEXT THURSDAY (!!!!) and JUST now found this residency program through my searches. do you think it's a little too late for me to apply and have a chance since interviews are being conducted ? :(

ICU is my ultimate goal but I thought I had no chance because I was unable to do my preceptorship in ICU (did cardiac step-down). Now I have another place interested in hiring me for ICU and regret that I didn't try for it at UVA. Do you think it would be bad to ask for a third interview in ICU at UVA?

I had my interview for cardiac progressive today and I think it went really well. It was a Skype interview and lasted 1 hr 15 minutes. Many behavioral questions so I would practice those. Also some questions they call "technical questions" but most were not really clinical more "what would you do in this ethically ambiguous situation" type questions. At the end the manager said "from our conversation it sounds like you would be a wonderful fit for our unit" so I am very hopeful. They said they would have a decision in 1-2 weeks.

So which ICU units are you interviewing for?
