Planning to relocate to Virginia when done with school...

U.S.A. Virginia

Fiancé is close to finishing her LPN license thus December. I'll be done with my associates nursing program soon. I do plan on advancing my degree I chose the ADN due to cost.

We're looking to move to Virginia. Most family is in the NoVo area and Charlottesville area. However, we like Richmond area a lot especially the cost.

Curious how is the area for nurses? I am cool with working in a LTC or assisted living. More interested in working in a jail or prison setting. Do nurse's with associates is it a decent market?

Up where I am the market is bleak have to commute 2 to 3 hours to find a job and work multiple job's just to make full time as a nurse wth an associates degeee.

Appreciate the feedback.

I've tried to do some research about the ADN job market and it doesn't seem terrible but don't expect to get an awesome job. I know some ADN's who work at Memorial Regional hospital in Richmond (more specifically mechanicsville) and they are being told to go back and get their bachelors if they want to keep their job. Memorial Regional isnt level I either by the way. Pretty sure you'd be able to get a job at a clinic. I don't think the job market for ADN's is terrible in VA, specifically the Richmond area because we have a lot of ADN programs around here. Just don't be surprised if a BSN gets the job because over the years I've seen less and less ADN's. Still I don't think it's a terrible market, just make sure you do eventually get your BSN because I won't be surprised if they tell you that you can only work for like 2-3 years before you need to go back for your BSN. I know a lot of nurses and that's what I've been told. Also, look at Bon Secours RN-BSN program, it's incredible
