Yes and no.
Yes you can practice in Virginia but not with an IL license, you have to get a VA license. The "N" in NCLEX stands for "national"....and RNs can practice anywhere in the US but each state has it's own license, fees, etc. . Contact the Virginia BON.http://www.dhp.state.va.us/nursing/
All the best!

I believe that in most states, you have a 30-day grace period to practice with an out-of-state license. After that period ends you need to have your local license in hand or you'll be running afoul of the law. So IMO, get started on the license endorsement process now.

To the OP, the only entity that can really answer your questions is the Virginia Board of Nursing. In my experience (with other BoNs) you'll want to start the process sooner rather than later. Here is a link to their applications (you'll be doing the LPN or RN licensure by endorsement) http://www.dhp.state.va.us/nursing/nursing_forms.htm
Ah, that could be why I have the wrong end of the stick--most of my experience is with the compact states. Thanks for setting me straight! :)
OP: Ignore everything I said except for the starting the endorsement process now.
