Members are discussing acceptance into the VCU DNAP program, with some receiving acceptance emails and others being waitlisted. There is confusion about finding the Facebook group for the program, questions about relocation requirements for the program, and a discussion on the differences between a DNP and DNAP degree in terms of teaching opportunities. Some members share their excitement about getting accepted, while others seek advice on reapplying to the program.
Is anyone in here applying for the upcoming VCU CRNA application cycle for January 2025 start?
After I filled out the form, I received an email from Google Forms titled "2024-2025 etpDNAP Interview.” At the bottom of that it said "Detailed instructions regarding how to complete the one-way interview, virtual interview will be sent to the email address you provide below. Please be on the lookout for this email after June 10.*
*We are diligently working to open the virtual interviews by the 3rd week of June. We will communicate any updates regarding the timeline to final decisions in the email mentioned above. "
Lulata said:For my cohort, there were about 600 applicants. They interviewed around 100 people and accepted about 50 across the four campuses. Again, I have classmates who got in with their first application, and others who applied four times before being accepted. Reach out to the school and try to find out why they rejected you! They are usually very transparent about telling you how you can be a competitive applicant for the next cycle.
Hello!
I would love to get your perspective on the program as a first year student. I don't think I've made enough posts to DM people, however. If you have time for this, please let me know, thanks!

1. Diversity: The program boasts a diverse student body and faculty, fostering a rich learning environment where different perspectives are valued and integrated into the curriculum.
2.Supportive Faculty: The faculty at VCU are exceptionally supportive. Once admitted, they provide extensive personal and academic support, ensuring students have the resources they need to succeed.I like the fact that they haven't forgotten how stressful the program is.
3. Variety of Clinical Sites: The program offers a wide range of clinical sites in diverse healthcare settings, allowing students to gain comprehensive, hands-on experience in various types of anesthesia practices. This exposure is crucial for building a well-rounded skill set. Also, the program offers a blend of urban and suburban clinical environments, enriching the training experience with diverse patient populations and healthcare settings.
4.Work Flexibility: The program structure allows students to work during the first two semesters, which helps in saving money and managing finances more effectively.
5.Reputation and Accreditation: VCU's Nurse Anesthesia program is highly respected and accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, ensuring a high standard of education.

Thank you so much! I've spoken with someone who's in their last year of the program, and the supportive faculty seems to be a strong point as well as their array of diverse clinical sites. I've loved the interviews I've had in person, so I've been a little disappointed that there's only the option of virtual for VCU. However, I'll be most likely attending a family member's wedding in Richmond in August so I plan on visiting the campus. I didn't realize they also had research projects ongoing, as opposed to just QI DNAP program, so that's cool to hear!
