The Villages hospital is coverd under the same umbrella as Leesburg Regional Medical Center, so try that website.
I grew up in that area so I can tell you that they have no BSN program in Lake/Sumter counties, they hire most of the new grads from Lake Sumter College. Waterman in Eustis has a new grad program as well. Pay is low in that area in general
I was noticing that. The pay and nurse to patient ratios in the area seem to be low in pay and high in patient loads? Why do you think that is? Also where did you decide to relocate to for better pay? The Jacksonville area? I know st Vincent's in Jacksonville starts ASN nurses out at $24.50 as new graduates
I'm in my Jr. Year of my BSN in another state, headed back home after graduation. There are no young people in the Villages, its a rather large town made up of 55+ exclusively. I know VRMC and LRMC both pay their winter nurses 50/hr with no bennies, check that out. Im definitely gonna try to work at the Villages per diem once I'm eligible. If its money you're after try Mayo in Jax.
So although this is old I just wanted to update people and what I have found out from almost a dozen nurses. West Marion seems to be a nice little hospital with a family feel to it. I know nurses who transferred to this hospital and are mostly happy as they say the orient loads are better, they pay ok and they treat the staff well. As far as the villages though I'm sad to say most of what I herd from some of the staff has not been the best. Staffing seems to be a issue and the pay is just ok. I'm herd the ICU nurses are always tripled and Med surg has to take up to 9 patients. That sounds almost hard to believe.
9 patients on medical at VRMC!! That's bananas! I would guess that most of these patients are 60+ and its not a typical med floor either with a few younger more able bodied patients sprinkled in. Ouch. Was looking forward to per diem once I got some experience under my belt but IDK now. I graduate in May. What about LRMC? Is,it just as busy? My grandmother told me her nurse friend said LRMC was a decent place and I know a lot of the girls I grew up with go to LRMC to have their babies and bypass Waterman.
