Hi, I am researching Vickie milazzo vs AALNC legal nurse consulting programs and would like some honest feedback. I know that VM is much more expensive. I would like to see if anyone has first hand experience with either program and how informative they are.

If you have looked around the 'net (try googling "Milazzo complaints") or around the Legal Nurse Forum here, you'll find that there are many better alternatives.
Number one on your list should be going to the American Association of Legal Nurse Consultants website (American Association of Legal Nurse Consultants (AALNC)), learning about the only true NURSING CERTIFICATION in legal nursing (LNCC) and signing up for their excellent series of webinars to learn the field and prepare you for certification. They are online, expect you to do some work, and are very cost-effective compared to VM, certainly, and to all the other commercial programs. None of which prepare you for actual certification. There's a link to the certification board so you can see what requirements there are, too.
Summary for basic info on the difference between a certificate of course attendance/participation and a certification of competence/expertise:
Certificate: Course attendees are generally new to field
Certification: Course attendees have some experience in the field
Certificate: Granted by course vendor
Certification: Granted by examination given by independent entity associated with a recognized professional organization
Certificate: No minimum practice requirement
Certification: Minimum practice requirement to sit for examination
Certificate: Examination given by course vendor ($$)
Certification: Examination is validated, based on role delineation study of current practitioners in the field; psychometrically valid test construction
Certificate: Recertification by course vendor offerings only ($$$)
Certification: Recertification CEs, multiple sources accepted with prior eval and approval by certifying board
I have made many friends in the organization and never lacked for exceptional mentoring --for free-- anytime I need it.
Thank you so much for the information. I am glad I did more research before spending the money. I will be taking the AALNC course soon. I called them and they are going to release the new and improved course in a few weeks.
