Hi everyone!

Forgive me if the title didn't make sense but I just have a quick questions hopefully with good responses. I work part-time as a CNA at a Veterans Home for the past 6 months and I'm a floater so therefore I don't have a set of members that I can get used to and become familiar with everyone. :uhoh3: Is the work at a Veterans home harder??.(eventhough all CNA work is hard). I'm asking because it seems alot of the members need almost moderate to total care due to them having disabilities due to being in the war etc. :no:I just feel like care in a LTC facility (if that's right) its hard but could be easier?? PLEASE HELP! :chair:

Hi,

I did my training at a Veterans Home and I love it. I don't know how many residents you have to take care of in the VA you are working, but while I was taking the training at the facility I was, ALL Cna's got assignments of 4-6 residents max. I am currently working at a LTC facility and we got assign 8-11 patients per shift. The wage its better at a VA than a LTC. Also you have to consider that you are already an state employee and this could be easier for you to apply on any State Hospital. I personally REALLY would love to work at a VA rather than a LTC. But I just checked and they closed the application acceptance back in December. :( I will just stay at the LTC to get some experience and apply to the VA later on when they have any available openings.
