Hello everyone I would really appreciate it if any nursing students or nurses reply. I am very confused on what to do. My plan was to go straight to RN but I have came across some speed bumps so I wont be able to start rn nursing school( Charity, SUBR, LSU) until about 2014. I know I should go straight to RN but Im so impatient and upset with myself because 2014 should be my grad year(I started college in 2010). I looked into William Carey and I could hopefully grad from there in 2015 but the cost of their program is too expensive. I know they say lpn dont make much money compared to rn but Im pretty young with no kids so it would be great for me right now.
So is it worth waiting on going straight to RN(its my dream to go to Charity) or should I do a lpn program in the meantime? Thank you for who ever responds.

I don't think the cost of the program is worth it. You'll only be an LPN for 6 months to a year if you can find a job. That's not enough time to even come close to paying for the cost of the program so you'll be stuck with an interest accruing loan (assuming you don't have enough to pay tuition in cash) while in RN school. I would just take a CNA course and work as that and save money and take all non-nursing classes, including the ones for a BSN in case you don't go to LSU.
Yes, I work as a cna now. Thank you so much.
Well, I recommend upping your hours and saving as much as possible.

Well i graduated high school 2006 and was supposed to graduate college 2010...didnt happen...decided i wanted to do nursing and the wait was extremel long for the colleges i wanted to apply to PLUS you had to be a CNA before applying. so instead of having to do the CNA (wait another semester because te deadline passed to sign up for the class) for one semester, take the test and try and find a job (a year would have already passed) i enrolled into an LVN program (16 months) graduated and worked as an LVN for a year before i got my acceptance letter into an RN program (so my planned worked to a T {thank God!!}) so it all depends on what you feel like doing at this point in your life.
If you decide to do the LVN program then apply (to Charity, SUBR, LSU) the timing seems right espcially if you cant start applying until 2014. BUT let us know what you decide. GOODLUCK!

The program is possible to do in 10 months. The one in BR requires prereqs and takes closer to 16. You'll have to call the school because the site's not very informative. The one in BR doesn't fill up its seats each semester so it's possible to walk into a class without any effort or waiting.
Bonus: Tuition is around $800 a semester.
Ok thanx!
Do you know anything about brcc?
Man, that database issue was strange. Anyway I posted yesterday:You won't get into BRCC unless you took the prereq classes there.
