my nerves are shot!

hopefully we won't have to wait any longer than next week.

I cant PM you but here's my email [email protected] @xKurosakii

I took the test 4/16 still waiting for results..

I took the test 4/16 still waiting for results..

maybe you should call them....almost 3 wks

Im anxiously awaiting my tests results from the pre entrance exam of veeb lpn school. Know if you passed your supposed to recieve a big envelope so in the meantime im scared to see any small envelopes with my name on it.....lol

I HIGHLY SUGGEST you copy what I am about to say and save it. Pass it along to your friends who also got accepted and your future nursing friends. You will make friends its inevitable. Everyone in that program is no longer your enemy but a fellow classmate. Help each other to succeed. Don't have a ton of pride. Stay back do study groups don't be so quick to say * outta here.

As far as staying back ALWAYS REVIEW YOUR TEST. Afterschool almost everyday due to how many quizzes you take there will always be a test to review please do it. It really will help come midterms and finals. Unless you super pro genius this is almost needed for everyone.

Next QUIZZES ARE THE MAIN THING. Midterm and Finals count but not for nearly as much as quizzes. I will post some pics on this guide on imgur. Click the link and save the pics its SUPER IMPORTANT. So yeah veebs you need a 70 average in every class. It really doesn't matter that your amazing at memorizing drugs and math and have a 96 average in (MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME).

If in A&P (EDIT) course you have a 72 average you are at risk and you now need finals tor (EDIT) to pass the course. So you see the stress you put on yourself by having low averages.

I have had decent averages all the way through overall some 85's a 90 average in (MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME) which is like PNP basically practical nursing. But I have been on the edge in second semester.

On the edge for me is basically not being able to bomb the finals. If you know you have to pass the finals or all the finals that puts pressure on yourself.

The way finals work first semester is everyone is separate and 100 questions per class (Quizzes are always 50 questions) and of course the whole course is multiple choice (Except if (EDIT) pulls a show your work math test out her butt then everyone is screwed)

But second semester finals are way different. A&P which is (EDIT) course which is like hormones and functions of the heart the way the heart flows the different valves, the digestive system etc. She has her own finals which is only 50 questions multiple choice of course. So it is difficult to think of what she can ask in that 50 questions. She teaches you 6 modules in that semester I believe. Oh btw modules are what every unit is called. Each teacher gives you a module it has all the info you need to pass the quiz and has suggested reading chapters and course objectives. Like at the end of this unit you will be able to recognize the posterior pituitary hormones etc.

Back to the finals for second

(EDIT), (EDIT), (EDIT) will all be combined

So Drugs and Math from (EDIT), (EDIT) and practical nursing, and (EDIT) and her care of the newborn and the mentrual cycle and pregnancy all on one quiz.

150 questions multiple choice.

The thought process behind this according to veebs is that this simulates an NCLEX

(EDIT)is by herself because her course doesn't have questions on the NCLEX

So all your eggs in one basket. Its designed to help students supposedly who if your struggling in (EDIT) but a beast in (EDIT) then due to (EDIT) questions you will overall get a better grade in (EDIT) cause you did so well on the parts you got right.

The questions are all mixed up and jumbled together so one second a question about a stage of labor and the next a question about a drug. Its intense. Also your overall grade on the finals will be the scored averaged into each class so a 90 on the finals means a 90 on (EDIT, EDIT, EDIT) finals. At the same time a 60 on the finals mean a 60 on all three as well.

In second if you are struggling in any of those three courses then that now makes the finals super crucial for you. See why having a good average early on means the world between pass and fail.

Good average just means around 76-80 really. That means you can get up to like a 50 on the finals and still be good. My math can be wrong though so do the math yourself when they teach you their formula. But trust me if you have a 75 average or better then you are doing lovely. Especially in second which is the hardest time you will ever have with veebs.

I'm writing this over a course of days so i'm back and forth due so I apologize for lack of grammar and I may be all over the place but try and just understand what I am saying to the best of your ability.

I can't comment too much on third but I have about 10 cousins and friends that have graduated through veebs and they all say if you get through second third is a cake walk. Just gotta not lose focus and keep your eyes on the goals.

All my cousins and friends we did not buy the BOOKS

anyone that knows anyone that went to veebs they always recommend NOT BUYING THE BOOKS

they give you modules with all the info you need for every quiz the books just help to reinforce stuff but they aren't necessary at all.

They will try and give you some 600-700$ bundle with the books and study guide but I wouldn't go for it and I didn't

Also end of the year people are dying to get rid of their bundles as cheap as like 200$ because

1. They spent 700 on it but never even opened the books and

2. They will take 200 over nothing because no one will want or give you anymore once you realize how pointless they are for veebs

NOW DON'T TAKE MY WORD FOR IT

I don't wanna hear I bought no books and now im screwed.

Veebs job the teachers job is too push the books. They assign chapters to help with the modules and constantly reference the books but it truly doesn't make a difference but it is your choice. If you feel you want to spend the money just to be safe go ahead. If your really struggling and don't have 700$ then skip it for now.

You can rent every textbook and study guide in the library they have multiple copies and its like 25 cents a day or something. You can take books the weekend if you do then its like 50 cents a day.

If you just want like one book I recommend (MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME) maternity book that one comes in handy cause she legit just pulls info from all over its rather annoying.

So in general

First semester is easy as can be you will have 80-90 averages now is your time to kill things and understand the basics. You probably wont need finals and be fine

DONT GET FULL OF YOURSELF DONT THINK ITS SUPER EASY

Second semester is insane you will literally get a module monday and the test for it will be by wednesday

Some will be next day

It will push you to the limit and you will cry.

You need to put in alot of study time legit like 5 hours a night

Do whats best for you like rewrite your notes make flashcards. Do it early on. If you get three modules on a Monday and its (EDIT), (EDIT), (EDIT), (EDIT) is two weeks away from her quiz that doesn't mean you can ignore her until three days before because the other two modules take precedence. Trust me I have done that like 20 times already it makes life so much harder. It will take a while to learn how to study when to study.

Being in third now I have learned study everything dedicate 2 hours here then 2 hours there.

It will start off so simple one test on a Wednesday then another on a Friday. It will change though to one Monday two Tuesday one Wednesday and the class quiz you just too Monday she has been teaching you the module that Tuesday Wednesday Thursday so you now have another quiz on Friday.

Take a second and think how that even works. While studying for quizzes and taking quizzes (Which happens at 8am.) 8-9am.

After that you will still have 4 classes that will teach the rest of the day. While they teaching you trying to study for the next day test but they all already on the next module its insane.

They don't like you studying different classes in their class btw. They feel pretty disrespected and spazz out.

Also no cellphones they take it from you and you get a write up. Its pretty annoying. A write up is basically nothing but still its annoying because you are an adult.

Now clinicals is a whole other beast depending on your teacher clinical will be a breeze or really hard. On top of clinical weeks and all the assignments they want. That week is your time to study your orifice off all the modules you have cause when you return to school there is tons of quizzes. You can really be ahead during clinicals if you use your time wisely. Clinicals isn't hard its nothing but cleaning *** and making beds. THE WHOLE TIME. NO MORE NO LESS EVER

You also give out meds but that is pretty simple and not every site wants you too.

You will get to know the clinical teachers and you will learn their quirks who is easy and hard etc. In clinicals they expect 10 drugcards (20 for second) like two care plans and two papers per semester. Your teacher will tell you when its due. Also they is a midterm and final which is 50 questions as well.

Your first week of clinicals stuff will be due cause they want to get it out the way so you can focus on cleaning azz lol

It can be June and you will still be cleaning *** so get used to it. If your smart or w.e. you may find ways around it. Honestly the patient will be clean and they still expect you clean *** the patient will say leave me alone I got cleaned an hour ago or leave me alone I want to sleep but your teacher will not care and you have to do it or you will get kicked out or fail.

YOU CAN GET KICKED OUT FOR LEAVING THE FLOOR FOR ANY REASON SO NEVER LEAVE THE FLOOR NEVER EVER LEAVE THE FLOOR. ALSO YOU CAN GET KICKED OUT FOR ANY REASON LIKE ANY SO BE VERY CAREFUL. IN CLINICAL YOUR ONLY ALLOWED 2 ABSENCES ANYTHING OVER AND YOU HAVE TO PAY TO DO MAKE UPS BUT THEY DONT TELL YOU IF THEY HAVE MAKE UPS TILL THE END OF THE SEMESTER AND IF THEY DONT YOU WILL BE KICKED OUT ON THE SPOT. LAST YEAR 10 PEOPLE WAITED END OF SECOND FOR MAKE UPS CAUSE THEY WERE AN ABSENCE OR TWO OVER AND THEY DECIDED NO MAKE UPS AND THEY ALL GOT KICKED OUT. ITS NO JOKE

Use your 10 hours wisely save it for a BAD snowstorm not a regular one cause Veebs don't give a ****. Also make ups are like 100-500 a day it's at their discretion. You can live in Brooklyn and your clinical site will be in long island. It can be a two hour drive or a three hour bus ride for you they don't care if your late 5 minutes you will be sent home for the day. Its happened ALOT. its really sad but what can you do. Be on time always. Alot of teachers don't play and some will let you stay it depends on their personality.

(MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME) Math Pharm etc.

She is a hard *** she will probably be hated by you and everyone else. She doesn't smile and she is very hard to approach so most people don't ask her questions. I personally like her but i'm a guy and in general all the teachers love us guys. I think its cause there is like 30 girls for every one guy lol

SO yeah people hate her but she is a nurse practitioner and a genius and you can tell from speaking to her. She knows hundreds of drugs and everything about them in and out and expects the same from you. She is most people hardest class. EVERY WORD SHE SAYS YOU HAVE TO WRITE AND STUDY. She give you everything you need to succeed she just speaks very fast and to the point. SHE IS VERY HARD VERY VERY HARD CLASS IN GENERAL. you will mess around and study her 10 hours and give everyone else 1 hour trust me find a balance.

OKAY SO THAT CHART WITH THE ML AND GTTS AND STUFF

MEMORIZE

SHE WILL GIVE A SECRET POP QUIZ

THE WHOLE SEMESTER IS MUCH MUCH EASIER IF YOU KNOW THIS CHART THIS IS THE FIRST STEP TO SUCCESS IN THE REAL WORLD OF NURSING MEMORIZE LIKE RIGHT NOW!!

She will give it to you during orientation but you will have a heads up if you memorize it now

Even in second and third you need to know ML and OUNCES etc. you have to know it.

Same with that insulin chart and I gave you the first quiz of semester 2 drugs. Which is Endocrine system.

So quiz one for (MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME) is Endocrine and that insulin chart. Its intense and you need to know everything. Its a hard course but not impossible just don't slack off. Veebs you can have an off day and an off quiz but you can have multiple off stuff.

Those endocrine drugs are just like 12 or something the next quize is CV Cardiovascular and that's like 24 drugs. I didn't give it to you guys cause I don't wanna overwhelm you.

Enjoy first and try and understand everything.

The other teachers are all okay for the most part (MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME) is deadly to some students cause she doesn't do reviews and she doesn't narrow anything down its quite a ***** move in my opinion. So be careful with her. She literally says anything I have ever said can be on the quiz.

Next is (EDIT) just listen to her and her module and you will get through just fine. She is a nice lady.

Next and lastly is (EDIT) SHE IS THE NICEST KINDEST LADY IN THE WORLD SHE WILL BASICALLY SAY ON NUMBER 12 I WILL WORD IT LIKE THIS

YOU SHOULD GET 90'S EVERY QUIZ SHE TRULY UNDERSTANDS HOW HARD A PROGRAM IT IS. YOU STILL LEARN FROM HER BUT SHE IS SO NICE ABOUT IT I LOVE HER SO MUCH AND YOU WILL AS WELL.

oh and there is lab. LAB IS SO BORING IT SUCKS YOU DO NOTHING TAKE THE ONE HOUR AND STUDY TRUST ME

Okay i'm super tired any questions let me know I wish everyone the best of luck

Its not impossible just try your best and you will succeed.

Sorry I haven't been on this in a while, but what would you recommend me studying or reading, before i start, cause I haven't received any information yet, not even about financial aid. I know I'm a bit anxious lol. But from what I've read I need to be on top of my game

Never mind I just read your last post you are the best!

Can you please post the cardiovascular drug list. Very much appreciated

I have difficulty with those types of formulas do you know a easy way to study? also how do we know when is physical? and orientation? and is the booklist the same
