VEEB LPN Program (info request)

U.S.A. New York

Published

Hi All,

I'll be starting at VEEB in the Fall and was wondering if there are any current or past VEEB students that can give some info on this program.

What are the Teachers like?

What are the required books?

Is the program as intense as they say?

Do they have articulation agreements with other nursing (RN) programs? If so, with who?

Are there any disadvantages in taking the LPN course outside of a Community College setting?

Do they provide job Placement at the end???

Any information that ANYONE can provide will be GREATLY appreciated! I really want to have a full understanding of what I'm in for. I have 2 year old Twins and I am a little worried about whether or not I'll be able to juggle school/studying and Family!

I feel your pain NY MOM lol..i was just wondering if you guys got your results back!! My test is this Tuesday!! OMG! Light a candle and say a prayer for me, please!! lol

lol miaizon!!! i just checked my mail and NOTHING about veeb once again lol..i'm sure you'll do great on your test, just study as much as u can this weekend, do u live in long island or queens?

I live on Long Island, West Hemp

Good luck, Miazon! Remember, just try to relax and stay focused. If u stay calm during the test, you should be able to finish all the questions.

I cant beleive NOONE has gotten their results yet! I am waiting to be able to congratulate all the people who tested before me. =)

Thanks for the advice NurseGurl!!..overall how long did it take to complete the test?

What's up hfs. I won't take any money from u. But I don't believe I'm the only one that can answer your questions. But go ahead shoot

Well, lets see. We got there at 8:30am. We all had to stand in a line and wait our turn to register for the test, which basically means they checked to make sure everyone had the correct documents (birth certificate, diploma, etc). Some people didnt have the right documents and they got sent home. I felt so bad for those people!

So after they check your documents, they send you to a classroom and there you will sit and wait until everyone has been registered. Bring some study material for quick review because we sat there in that room til 1030, when we finally began the test.

The first part was Vocabulary. 80 questions in 24 minutes. Like I said, just stay calm and you should be able to finish all of them. Then she collects your scantrons and hands out the next ones for the reading comprehension. I cant remember how long we had to complete this section, but basically it was one long passage with questions, and then several short passages with questions. I happen to be a fast reader, so I chose to read all the passages before answering the questions. However, I heard some other people were able to answer the questions without fully reading the paragraphs. Everyone is different and you know your pace. Do what works for you. The answers are basically right there in the reading.

After she collected out scantrons for that part, we got a bathroom break. And after that, we did the math. The math was 40 questions, but again I cant recall how much time we had to finish them. (Sorry, I was really trying to focus that day, LOL). Like many others have already said, the math is somewhat simple. You really have to know the rules for intergers (adding subtracting, multiplying, division...) Also how to add and subrtact fractions and mixed numbers! Just do the problems and dont think too much. Try not to second guess yourself, there isnt enough time for that. As soon as she collected the scantrons for the math we were free to leave. We got out at 1:30. So basically the test is from 10:30 - 1:30, with a bathroom break, plus she took some time to hand back our documents, and also talked alittle bit about VEEB. Ok, I hope all my rambling helped! GOOD LUCK!!!

35 mins for the math 40 questions. And 30 mins for reading comp 38 questions

Thanks NurseGurl, great info on what to expect! I really appreciate it!

Youre quite welcome, Miaizon! We are all in this together. Hopefully we will all be in class together in Sept. 09!

Well thought I'd share my little revelation. I had some chinese food and my fortune cookie read " Good news of a long-awaited event will arrive soon"....

:-) hope that means the test
