VEEB LPN Program (info request)

U.S.A. New York

Published

Hi All,

I'll be starting at VEEB in the Fall and was wondering if there are any current or past VEEB students that can give some info on this program.

What are the Teachers like?

What are the required books?

Is the program as intense as they say?

Do they have articulation agreements with other nursing (RN) programs? If so, with who?

Are there any disadvantages in taking the LPN course outside of a Community College setting?

Do they provide job Placement at the end???

Any information that ANYONE can provide will be GREATLY appreciated! I really want to have a full understanding of what I'm in for. I have 2 year old Twins and I am a little worried about whether or not I'll be able to juggle school/studying and Family!

Right across the street. They have plenty of parking on the side streets. We can't park in their lot.

I'm glad you got to experience a bed bath, and yes what an experience it is, you will get better and better, and more comfortable the more you do it. Yes you are right, a lot of people take jobs for the money, and not because they desire the job. CNA is one job that either you like it or you don't, but if you don't get out. Unfortunately many stay and make it a nightmare for the new CNA's as well as the resident's, but you and I will make a difference. I work now as a CNA, and I am determined to be that good nurse, the one my CNA's can come to, as well as the one who will have service talks and make sure that each one is pulling their weight. We have one focus and that is to care for our resident's and make our instuition one that other's will want to come to should they have to leave their loved one's there. I believe you will make a great nurse, and these experiences that you have with other's is a teaching tool to show what not to do. So go and be that advocate, caregiver, and collaborater...., for your resident's. :yeah:

When do you guys get your grades for Midterms?

we were told next week sometime...we can pick up or they will mail...

Some advice from a former veeb student. After the midterms done Veeb people will

know who some of the students will make it for the second semester. It your average ve for the midterms is above 80 or at least above 77 you are safe. Otherwise, you need to work harder.

Just found out I passed the boards, got stopped at 85 questions, ended up getting about 10 select all that apply questions and no dosage calculations. Got hit with a good amount of pharmacology, diagnostic procedures, infection control and a few conditions I've never heard of.

But I was able to get around those by looking at suffixes and prefixes which led to some fortunate guesses. They like to hit you too with the drugs you see on TV.

The Pearson-Vue trick mentioned in the NCLEX forum, does indeed work, I got my "unofficial" unofficial results hours after the exam.

My advice to you guys for next year is mail your application and register with Pearson Vue right after you graduate. Take like a week off, unwind and just start studying practice questions and strategies so by the time the school does mail the grraduate list in September you'll get permission to schedule your test almost instantaneously.

I had the option to take the exam as soon as Sept. 20, but I spent my month after graduation working/partying and getting acquainted with alcohol. :chuckle Finally settled down after I scheduled my test for 10/8, but if you don't have a review class or a study partner, its extremely difficult to get motivated.

Ended up doing about 400 practice questions total and trying to cram a whole year into 36 hours before the exam. It's funny how almost nothing I reviewed in that 36 hours came up on the boards. The test is basically 70% strategy, 30% knowledge and VEEB doesn't teach strategy from the materials my friends showed me from their review. I :redbeathe the Kaplan reviiew book, a bunch of their practice questions came up on the boards and their strategies helped me pass for sure.

Honestly, don't be scared by the boards and don't be afraid if you don't know everything. The stigma around the boards almost lead me to delay my test date, but I figured it was now or never. It was definitely a lot easier than I expected and I felt really good leaving the test center.

Yup, Townhouse is probably one of the better facilities you can be assigned to. The place is well maintained and the staff is really friendly. On the other hand Holly Patterson right behind the school, gave me some great clinical skills, but the staff was kind of cold and its not a place I ever want to see again.

And a hint of advice, if the instructors let you out early, don't go back to school before 1:15. Cuz if the instructors get heat from the school, forget about getting out early again.

If you cannot increase your average above 75. You will receive

a phone call before or after the finals which Veeb will tell don't bother to take the final or don't come for the second semester.
