VEEB LPN Program (info request)

U.S.A. New York

Published

Hi All,

I'll be starting at VEEB in the Fall and was wondering if there are any current or past VEEB students that can give some info on this program.

What are the Teachers like?

What are the required books?

Is the program as intense as they say?

Do they have articulation agreements with other nursing (RN) programs? If so, with who?

Are there any disadvantages in taking the LPN course outside of a Community College setting?

Do they provide job Placement at the end???

Any information that ANYONE can provide will be GREATLY appreciated! I really want to have a full understanding of what I'm in for. I have 2 year old Twins and I am a little worried about whether or not I'll be able to juggle school/studying and Family!

thanks Trini, I really appreciate all the encouragement u gave me throughout the bridge! See u in sept!

Yw NYMom but don't thank me.... LOL Just give me the same encouragement when I need it during the year! We will all do well if we keep our goals in focus and support each other.

Hey Trini do you know what color the uniforms are and we only have to wear them to clinicals right??

Miaizon you put your deposit down?? And why is it when i call the Financial aid guy is sick or on lunch..as much money this school gets they cant have two people working that office??

The Uniforms are awful white. Thank goodness we only have to wear them in clinicals. Our non clinical weeks we can wear whatever.

Yep dropped off money last Friday. I spoke to financial guy on Friday over the phone. I called today and yep he's out sick..I'll try again tomorrow. Why are you asking about the uniform color LOL!! you need to match your earrings right? lol

Well I don't want to bust anyone's bubble but as far as earrings go we can only wear post/stud earrings. No dangling earrings allowed in clinicals. No strong perfume/cologne. No excessive make-up. No fake nails. No long nails and long hair has to to pinned up and off of your shoulders.

Thanks for the heads up Trini, and you are right we need to support and encourage each other when things get tough. We need to stay focused no matter what happens at the home front. Life can sometimes derail people from their goals. :stdnrsrck:

I am alittle worried about the books. I didnt buy them that day. They really tried to scare you into buying them, (lol) they kept saying over and over again YOU WILL NEED THE BOOKS, ALL THE BOOKS ARE NEW, YOU CANNOT PURCHASE USED BOOKS, etc...

Now, I am planning to shop around on Amazon.com and other websites. Anyone else planning to do the same?

There is a bookstore in wantagh I think the school is affiliated with, you can go there or just order from the online bookstore they order from if you can't afford all at once. If you have buy the book "journey" it is written by two of the teachers and the edition doesn't change much so use the old edition if you have to. Trust me we all of the infomation in journey is in your main nursing fundamentals book.

I don't remember them saying we couldn't get used books in my group but... I'll be shopping around. $600 just isn't sitting right with me:down:

Like I said Trini if you cant afford it right now shop around or order what you can now. Books like maternity isn't even cracked open till third semester. Your Nursing book and anatomy book is used earlier.

cool.... thanks

LOL Yup Miaizon how did you know..lol...well i guess I have to clip my nails, pin up my hair and find some earrings that arent too big...:chuckle Hey if it gets me one step closer to my goal and isnt going to kill me I will do it..lol

Has anyone looked at shoes yet? I dont want to spend toooo much, but at the same time, i dont want to buy too cheap and then be regretting it later. Any ideas?

About buying the shoes...In my room they said NO SNEAKERS, NO CROCS, NO CLOGS...but then said to check out payless for shoes....But wouldn't the shoes you get at payless be white SNEAKERS? That confused me so maybe i'll just stick with a site that deals with nurse shoes? hehe i dunno.

And they said not to buy the books used because all the listed books are the latest and most up-to-date version, but when i went on Amazon.com i seemed to find that all the books they had on the list as being a 2008 edition were listed on amazon.com as the August 2007 edition.

Does anyone know if buying those books would be the out-dated version? Or in the printing world August 2007 IS the 2008 edition? I just don't want to wind up messing it all up. I think I'll just call VEEB tomorrow.

Thanks for any help from anyone else trying to buy the (right) books online.
