Vans slip ons

i need white shoes for my clinical on wednesday. i don't want to spend more than 40 on a pair of shoes?

are vans slip ons any good for nursing? they are canvas so i don't know if that would be a problem. i do have to be in the showers with pts , but i'm not sure how wet they would get.

I personally will not wear any shoes that are not 100% leather... I don't want anything dripping on my shoes and then getting on my socks and feet... Things do drip, and I want to keep them off of me! I would think you could get a pair of leather tennis shoes for less than $40... good luck!

I'm a Vans and Converse All Stars girl myself, but I do not wear them to work--prefer something a little more substantial for the random fluid issues/spills and with more support for those long hours...I definitely understand financial limitations but these are your feet--and if you don't find something comfortable you will be absolutely miserable during your shift...for my clinicals I found all white leather Nikes in the boys department so they were a bit cheaper but once I started my first job I splurged on Asics running shoes and I LOVE them with a passion...12 hour shifts and feel like I'm walking (sometimes running) on the clouds. Best of luck as you start clinicals!

i personally liked adidas superstar shoes they cost around fifty or so but last a long time i tended to scuff my toes moving beds around or transferring pts from stretcher to bed and these shoes have a rubber clamshell toe to protect from scuffing good luck and remember in nursing scool it's all about you technique you can stick a foley up someones nose as long as you maintain sterile technique lol

good luck

Did you end up using the Vans? They are the only shoes I wear besides flip flops and want to get some for clinicals too. I'm not sure if it's a good idea though.

Hhhmmm. I have my heart so set on my NurseMates and the lil blue heart (:lol2:), but I want to walk on clouds!!

That's #1, IMO, when it comes to nursing, long shifts on your feet & sneakers.

To the OP, as far as Vans go, I've always owned a pair or two (skater girl here), though never the slip-ons.

I must say I couldn't imagine any pair of Vans would be the most comfortable for Nursing, but then again, the slip-ons could be pretty different. I hope someone can answer your question. Our feet are most important here. ;)
