Vanderbilt University School of Nursing (VUSN) AGACNP 2024

Creating a thread for anyone who applied for the AGACNP track beginning next fall as I don't see one on here or Reddit at the moment. Best of luck to all!

Specializes in ICU.

Hey everyone!

I just got accepted  and am glad there is a group started here. I'm coming from Washington state. I still need to pay for the deposit.
How is everyone feeling about getting in? Have you all started looking into how to pay for school? I think that's my biggest stressor as I got accepted this late.

Hi and welcome Jen, apologies for this delayed response, was on PTO and didn't see your message. I'll just speak for me and maybe others can chime in, but I feel great to be in the program, I'm coming into this tbh really just looking to learn more and see what the world of APP has in it, I don't necessarily plan to stop my current career however. I saved the $ for this program, so I can't speak to the loan options on this one, but I know when I did my undergrad I sure hated the interest rates at that time after I got out 😞 and I doubt much has changed. Anyhow. Hope to see you with the rest of us soon!

Wow. So you're going to drop $80,000 on an NP Program when you don't think you even want to be an NP? I hope there's no one on this thread who didn't get in bc you took a spot in the program. I don't think you're going to be received well by your fellow classmates if you show up to block and express that mindset. Cringe.

OK that feels a little judgy...may I clarify? I should have said I don't plan to stop my current job *just yet*.

I never said I don't want to be an NP. I've wanted to be an NP for a long time, I've just been waiting until I was best able and felt ready for the schooling and had saved enough. I felt the same when I approached my CNA, my RN, and my BSN. And to be honest I love my job and having an ACNP would be infinitely helpful to it in the case that I keep doing it awhile longer before moving into an NP role. Many of my coworkers also have their ACNP yet still have our RN position, it's not uncommon. I do hope to get an ACNP role when the program is done as long as I can find something that feels as good to me as my current job does, so like I said I'm keeping an open mind on what's next. I live in an area with lots of competition for jobs so I need to be open to looking for potentially awhile after school for the right fit. She asked how we feel, and seeing as nobody else answering I gave my honest response, but please don't think I'm just taking up a space simply sightseeing through this program cuz that's not it. And yeah maybe they will, but I hope my classmates won't judge me based on these things, all the folks I met at our open house were super kind and supportive so I dunno. Anyhow, I'm nervous but excited to meet you all this week and get started.
