vanderbilt pay/benefits

U.S.A. Tennessee

Hey Everyone! I have just landed a couple interviews for a few positions at Vanderbilt Medical Center for their various ICUs. I have 3 years RN experience (1 in oncology and 2 in ICU). I currently work in Indiana and make $22.50/hour plus $5 night shift and $9 weekends. I was just wondering how Vanderbilt compares for experienced nurses. I was also wondering if they usually offer relocation assistance or sign on bonus or anything like that?

Vanderbilt has a very good reputation and I am sure I will gain some great experience there and am truly excited! I do have to move my family though and just want to make sure it is worth it.... any info would be helpful! Thanks!

Sorry to say, but a lot of people have asked this question here and not received an answer. I've looked because I applied for the residency program. Please let us know if you find out, we're all curious!

Base is $5.00/hr less than your current pay AND you have to be housekeeping as well. Their response to the nurses outrage at having to now do the job of two people, we are ...It's a privilege to work for us

St. Thomas pays pretty well from what I hear

When I did a phone interview, the recruiter asked what salary do I expect to make. I told her $30 which I know would be a lot more, she told me I would make around $24 with my experience. 3 years in home health.

Pay will be about the same as you make now. Weekends are an extra $6/hr, 7-11 pm $3/hr, 11pm-7am $3.50/hr, holidays $5/hr. And the nurses DO NOT do the housekeeping!!! And on call is $2/hr even if you aren't called in. Also, lots of incentive opportunities at $10/hr.

Methdoist weekenders make between 45-50/hr

Right out of an ADN with no experience my friend makes 29-35/hr...Just depends on the time and day (normal shift is 7p-7a)

I know at one time One of the Nashville hospitals wanted to have the nurses do the Pt room housekeeping....but it was awhile ago

Yuck, that's what I was offered in FL with no experience. Maybe the COL makes up for it?

Thanks for replying.

I found what you were referencing.

Just to update, pay for experienced RNs is comparable to what I make now. They did say that the organization is looking to make their pay more competitive, however, they did not know when that would be or how much it would be. :(

Also, the differentials stink. Weekend differential-$6.00 per hour, evening differential $3.00 per hour (between 3p-11p), nights $3.50 (between 11p-7a).

Just a update Vanderbilt has recently increased the based salary.

Yeah, one lousy dollar an hour. $21 and change an hour for a new grad. Still anemic, even for the south.
