Could anyone tell me what the requirements are for the letters of recommendation? I'm afraid I won't get my packet soon because of the holiday, and I would like to give my references as much notice as possible. Thank you!!

I am with dpcu2014. would anyone be willing to let me know what all is in the big packet? I am a little behind on applying, as our program didn't emphasize just how important it was to start before the holidays, so we all just started looking and the deadling is in 10 days!! I appreciate any help anyone would be willing to share

I just finished my application last week. You will have to write a letter of intent (basically a cover letter), choose which track you want to specialize in, and submit a scanned copy of an official transcript. Your references will be contacted by Vanderbilt directly once you give the system their email addresses.

Hey! I am applying for the vanderbilt nurse residency!! I am so glad I found this message board! I submitted a cover letter on the original application, but now it asks for a letter of intent! From what I know, there is not much difference between a cover letter and a letter of intent! Did y'all write a different letter to submit on the second portion of the application???

I expanded a little more in my letter of intent and talked about why I specifically chose Vanderbilt's Nurse Residency Program, expanded more on my track of choice (with concrete examples of why I chose that track), why I believe I am qualified (externship, volunteer experience, leadership roles), and my future goals/career path. I submitted my application packet last Friday and I got an email yesterday saying we will be contacted by the last week of February with next steps. I am talking to a girl who did the program last year and she heard last week of January and interview mid-Feb, so I all I'm gathering is that we'll hear in February haha, who knows!

I just submitted my application packet today! I was wondering when we would find out about the next steps, so that's good to know that it will be sometime in February. Now basically we all freak out every time we get an email until then.

Hey everyone, I just applied to the surgical track and sent in my big packet a few days ago! I'm nervous, I really want this position. I just moved to Nashville from Colorado a few weeks ago because I got nurse practicum at Vanderbilt in the OR. I'm hoping this will help me into the Nurse Residency Program! Good luck to everyone!

Hey everyone, just wanted to offer some encouragement! I applied for the Winter 2014 Womens Health track and they ended up getting rid of it. I was offered the chance to apply for another track with my same resume and cover letter (well I could add one paragraph) which clearly stated my love for womens health. But I really wanted to work at Vandy so I took the opportunity to apply for medsurg not expecting much since my whole application was directed toward OB.

I got waitlisted.

Then I got an interview and got the job! So if you get waitlisted don't get discouraged and PRACTICE INTERVIEW QUESTIONS anyways! Because when I got taken off the waitlist I had about a week til my interview, a little less.

If anyone has any questions I'd be glad to answer them. Disclaimer: I haven't actually started work yet, start date is February 10th :)
