Anyone applying to the Vanderbilt Fall 2011 MSN program for the non-nurse? Im wondering how long the interview questions should be, goal statements, etc? Also, anyone know how competitive it is with GPAs, GRE? I just want to know if its a long shot for me! ANY advice would be great. thank you!!
Thanks for the great info Nikki. Are you currently a student or working? I would love to be able to manage without a car. To be honest, the cold weather doesn't scare me, but driving in rain and sleet and snow sure does! I am coming out next month, and I can't wait to check out the city. Any advice on what not to miss?
Also this thread going...

Hi everyone! I have been reading through posts on allnurses for a couple of months now as I've been preparing to apply to different schools, but this is my first post! I just found the Vanderbilt pre-specialty Master's program a couple of days ago, and am planning to go ahead and try to get an application in now (I know, it's extremely last-minute!). I was wondering if anyone might have a suggestion about recommendation letters- so far I will submit one from my volunteer coordinator at the hospital, one from an employer, and I'm wondering if it would be better for my third to come from a professor who I've worked with for years in a different field of study, or from my Anatomy teacher who I only had for one term??? Both would give me great recommendations, but which would look better on the application? What do y'all think?
Also, I haven't seen too many posters applying to the acute pediatrics program... any word about how competitive that one is?
Well, thanks to you all for posting, this is such a great resource for us all!
Good Luck to those still waiting to hear back, and Congrats to those who've already gotten good news!

partera and evaamber- at the end of the program you get a MSN.. there is no BSN component. I guess you can consider the pre-specialty year what people do in their BSN, but at the end of the pre-specialty year, you just sit for the NCLEX exam.. no official undergraduate degree in nursing.
