Valley health Winchester

U.S.A. Virginia

My husband & I are thinking about relocating to Winchester area. I am a nurse with two and half years of experience currently working on a step down unit of ICU. I was wondering what the average pay is in that area, do they offer an option to not take their benefits package for an increase in pay, what their differential pay is for weekends, nights etc. And what other RN's opinions are about working for Valley Health. I want to make sure I am choosing a good company who cares about their employees.

Specializes in EMS, ED, Trauma, CEN, CPEN, TCRN.

I worked per diem with Valley Health in their ED and I loved it! But then I joined the Army and moved to Georgia. :) If I had stayed in Winchester, I would have probably ended up going full time in their ED -- loved it that much. My full-time job was with Inova Loudoun Hospital in Leesburg. You might considering looking at Inova Loudoun -- it's about an hour commute, but the pay is more. I loved Winchester, though. I still own a house there! LOL.

I felt like Valley Health really did care about employees and had some great benefits. I was only per diem, though, so I don't know specifics. If I recall, the differential was something like $2.50 per hour for evening hours, $3 per hour for night hours, an additional $1 per hour for weekend hours, and time-and-a-half for holidays. That was in 2010, though -- might have gone up. I will try to lure an ICU nurse I know over to this thread...

Thank you for responding. I am glad to hear Valley Health really cares about their employees. For me that is the most important.
