Hi VC/UCF Concurrent Spring 2022 applicants!
I'm currently finishing my last two pre-requisites (Micro + Nutrition) in Summer 2021. Then, I plan to apply for the Spring 2022 Concurrent Valencia/UCF ASN/BSN program.
Who else plans to apply for the Spring 2022 concurrent program?

If we could accept all applicants to our partnered concurrent programs with SSC and VC, we would! In fact, this is one of the reasons we opened the Florida College System Concurrent AS to BSN program. We have no acceptance limits on that track. If you qualify, you are admitted. So if you do not get into one of these as a Concurrent student (but do get admitted as a regular student to ANY Florida College Nursing program), please file an application to that track!
As for GPA calculations, you are correct. Every school figures this number on the classes they accept. For instance, if you have 3000 or 4000 level courses and transfer to a state college, they might not be able to accept those higher level classes. So, they do no use them to calculate the cumulative GPA. Grade forgiveness policies vary widely from school to school. Some schools allow far more classes than others. Some schools do not recognize the second chances at all. Others recognize only their own. UCF is in the middle of the pack.
At UCF, two classes is the most you can have forgiven. EXCEPT if forgiven classes are from another school AND that school awarded a degree in which the forgiven classes were included. In that case, UCF accepts all the classes and uses the GPA of that degree for the calculation of all classes taken to come up with the cumulative GPA. So, it can be a little brain twisting at times.
Good luck and feel free to contact me or my advising staff if you have any questions, concerns or needs. [email protected], www.nursing.ucf.edu

Thank you Dr. H! I haven't really looked into the Florida Concurrent System too much, but I definitely will now. I applied to both concurrent programs for Fall 2021, but didn't get in. I only had an 79 on my TEAS as well as a 3.3 GPA, which definitely did not make me stand out very much. I retook my TEAS before the Spring 2022 application opened, however, and got an 89. I also know the Spring semester is less competitive compared to fall. I know my GPA is still a bit on the lower end though.
For the Florida Concurrent System, from what I heard, you can do one semester at any of the state colleges and then transfer to SSC or VC Concurrent, right? If so, is it an automatic acceptance?
I really hope I get in for the Spring 2022 semester. I changed my major to Nursing at the end of my sophomore year and that set me back a lot, but I realized my old major isn't what I really wanted to do. I've already taken 115 credits and I found out that once you reach 180, you stop receiving financial aid, which worries me a bit.
I appreciate all the help! Thank you so much!
In the FCS you stay with the school you are in. You do not transfer to VC or SSC. We have students from all over the state who do not have as much assess to a BSN education who enter their school to complete the ASN and then UCF for the BSN with the Concurrent overlap of class schedules.
So if you start at, let's say, Gateway College up in Lake City. You finish your first term there and apply to the FCS Concurrent program. When admitted, which is not a competitive admission, you would continue at Gateway while taking a BSN class each term until you complete the ASN. Once complete, we allow more classes per term to complete the BSN. If you attend a school that does not have Summer classes, like Palm Beach, Indian River and Daytona, you can lump a bunch of classes in those "off" terms. That would be a customized plan for a specific student.
Yes, there is a 180 credit hour cap on financial aid. But there is a way to file for a waiver of that limit. It is a simple application that considers things like a change of Major. Check with the Financial Aid Office for details on that to get the best information.

@Justin Cooper I'm not sure, but I think it could go either way at this point. Were you accepted into the Spring 2022 VC/UCF concurrent program or just wondering for when the time comes?

@FrankMPH Hi Frank, my application switched to "eligible" today. If yours is still pending verification, I may suggest reaching out to your program advisor. They may have some updated info.

I’m still waiting on a decision at this time. I applied on Sept 1st with a 4.0 GPA both science/non-science. My TEAS score being an 83%, so I am hopeful. My partner and I have a trip planned and I’m trying to determine if this could hinder that.
@Justin Cooper Totally understood. Excellent stats with your 4.0! I'd speculate that you're at the top of the list and may hold tight for at least another week or two before deciding on the trip. Good luck ?

It’s a trip to Paris and it’s been booked for months ?
Decisions for admission for the UCF/VC Spring 2022 cohort will not be made prior to October 20. Lots of processes, clearances, confirmations, comparisons, and counts have to be made up to that date.
As for Orientation, no date has been set. Given the gathering restrictions imposed right now, it may very well be Online again. But again, no decision has been determined at this point.
Once these details are nailed down, accepted students will be notified of when and how Orientations will occur. Students not accepted as UCF/VC or UCF/SSC Concurrent program students will also be made aware of how they may be admitted to the Florida College System Concurrent program.
Think of the difference between the options as being a Drafted Athlete versus a Walk On! All get to play, they just make the team in a different fashion.
