Valencia College Spring 2016

Published

Hello everyone,

I know it may be a little early but who will be applying to Valencia's nursing program for spring 2016? I will be submitting my application next week and I just wanted to start a thread to see if anyone submitted their application already!

it was exciting at first , but then it got scary :((. I feel like so many things to do in such a short time. They talked about the Welcome Discussion Board ???? I really do not know what we have to do with it

It is in Blackboard under Discussion section. You suppose to do your original post and answer at least 3 other people's posts

I think is just introduce yourself

Are you currently in nursing 2 this semester?

yes, and I fail the first dosage exam I made such stupid mistakes, LOL I got the easiest ones wrong and the hardest right, I bring this up just to let you know all that dosage is a serious business LOL, you have 3 attempts in nurse 2, if you don't pass it, that is considered an automatic fail

At least you passed the final dosage exam. What advice would you give for studying for the fundamental exams? What resources did you use to help you practice questions?

people found adaptive quizzes really helpful for me were terrible, I used fundamentals success, the exams are easy and every question comes from the book. read the questions carefully and remember this: sometimes when you are transferring a patient is better lock the brakes of the bed instead putting it in the lowest position. read the boxes in the book specially when it comes to skills. the question are really different, there were people that got 90 + on the exams, it's not about how much you know is about how you think. I will say read the book know, get really good with the nursing process and always read them on the book specially the goals and nursing diagnosis

HI everyone!!!

For those who have gotten accepted for spring 2016, if you don't mind me asking, what were your gpa and teas scores?

im worried my gpa will mess me up but I have a high teas score!

Hi! My overall GPA was a 3.1, science was like a 3.5, and the pre-reqs were like a 3.2. I got a 78 on the teas and made it into the UCF/VCC concurrent program. For Valencia's traditional program a high teas score doesn't matter as long as you score the 64% (whatever the numbers are).

Hello! This thread is older, but I'm a recent graduate of VC. You have made a WONDERFUL choice. N1 is the hardest because it challenges the way you must think about the questions. There are lots of resources available to you. USE THEM!

Hello, thank you for commenting. How was nursing 2? What resources did you use in nursing 1?

N1 I used the evolve case studies, and the quizzes/questions from the textbook. And the tutors. (A LOT) That's it. I purchased that fundamentals question book but didn't really use it until the end of the semester. N1 goes in depth into ADPIE. Figuring out which step the question is asking about will get you to the correct answers.

N2 was more difficult for me. Mostly due to personal issues, but the key there is the change to patho learning. There I'd say learn the s/s, complications & treatments & you'll be set. Learn the medications by generic class & you'll soar through the next semesters in pharm.
