Valencia College pre-nursing student

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hi! I am a pre-nursing student at Valencia College. I am doing my last semester for my AA degree before applying to the program. My biggest fear is my grades. I didn't fail any of my pre-req classes but I have 2 C'S In Anatomy and Physiology, 2 A's in Psychology, A in nutrition, an A in student development, I received credit in English and humanities from my high school transcript, and I have an A in microbiology.

I am currently volunteering at a local hospital and I also shadow a family member that is nurse at a nursing home. I guess you can tell that I'm doing these things to increase the likelihood of getting in. I am also studying for the TEAS exam, and I plan on getting my CPR certification out of the way.

Do you think that I have any chances of getting into Valencia's nursing program with my grades. My overall GPA right now is at 3.2 which above the overall requirement , but my science GPA is only 2.8 and it has to be 3.0, i'm worried that they won't accept me, even though I made A'S in all my other classes. Any Valencia college nursing students got accepted even though their GPA was low?

We don't know where Valencia College is! We can't answer your questions! Please ask your question in the state under which it belongs.

The tag says florida, united states at the bottom in bold and highlighted letters.

I'm currently in Seminole State's nursing program ("rival" of Valencia). I initially started at Valencia but my GPA wasn't even close to high enough to get in. I know they look at your pre-req GPA so honestly, if it doesn't even meet their requirements, you probably won't get it. They have a competitive program.

Not to mention, Seminole's nursing program is waaaaaay better and you should just come to my school. =P

Lol, I was considering Seminole but transportation is my biggest issue. Valencia is the closest to me. I dont know, I am honestly conflicted.

Amywat, I'm currently at Valencia & the President of the SNA. Apply anyway. There's currently no... and I mean NO waiting list. Apply anyway. Good luck to you. Let me know if you have any other questions.

I was just accepted into Valencia for spring 2016 and I know you have to have a 3.0 science GPA. So out of just your A&P 1 and 2 you need a 3.0. Then you have to have an overall 3.0 with all previous course work, then you need a 3.0 in Gen Ed classes. It's tough but doable!
